The tutorial contains courses of lectures on modern English stylistics, questions to lectures and material for practical classes.

The tutorial is aimed for students of technical and economic specialities studying for additional qualification of “The Interpreter in the Field of Professional Interaction” also for Master’s Degree Students, postgraduates and general public interested in the English language. Second edition is complemented with practical tasks. Formulations of key stylistic concepts were modified and supplemented. Descriptive theoretical material was extended and the examples were added. The new chapter “Set Expressions” was added into the second edition.

INTRODUCTION

The main goal of the tutorial is to give students main chapters of stylistics as the separate section of the theory of the English language.

The tutorial covers such questions as stylistic differentiation of the lexical composition of the English language, classification and functions of stylistic devices, peculiarities of functional styles and fundamentals of stylistic analysis of the text.

The tutorial includes 9 lectures on stylistics of modern English, questions to lectures and unique practical tests. After long approbation period, second edition was complemented with practical tasks. Formulations of key stylistic concepts were modified and supplemented. Descriptive theoretical material was extended and the examples were added. The new chapter “Set Expressions” was added into the second edition.
