XVII. Read the following excerpts from documents you may come across in your business activity.

CONTRACT NO. ... (some clauses)

2.2. Contractor to Inform Himself Fully

The Contractor shall be deemed to have examined the Site, if access thereto has been available to him, and the General Conditions, Specifica­tion, Schedules, Drawings and Plans and to have obtained on his own re­sponsibility and at his own expense any additional information which he considers necessary for the completion of his tender.

2.5. Mistakes in Drawings

The Contractor shall be responsible for and shall pay for any alterations of the Works due to any discrepancies, errors, or omissions in the drawings and other particulars supplied by him whether such drawings and particu­lars have been approved by the Engineer or not, provided that such discrep­ancies, errors, or omissions be not due to inaccurate information or particu­lars furnished in writing to the Contractor by the Purchaser or the Engi­neer.

2.7. Assignment and Subletting

The Contractor shall not, without the consent in writing of the Purchaser which shall not be unreasonably withheld, sublet any part of the Contract or make any Sub-Contract with any person for the supply of any major compo­nent of the Works or for any part of the Works of which the makers are named in the Contract. Any such consent shall not relieve the Contractor from his obligations under the Contract.

2.9. Manner of Execution

All Plant to be supplied and all work to be done under the Contract shall be manufactured and executed in the manner set out in the Specification or, where not so set out, to the reasonable satisfaction of the Engineer, and all the Works on Site shall be carried out in accordance with such reasonable directions as the Engineer may give.

2.10. Contractor's Equipment

Except as otherwise provided for in the Contract Documents, the Con­tractor shall at his own expense provide all Contractor's Equipment, labour and haulage and power necessary to execute and complete the Works.

2.11. Lighting and Guarding

The Contractor shall be responsible for the proper lighting, guarding and watching of all the Works on the Site until taken over and for the proper provision during a like period of temporary roadways, footways and guards, as far as the same may be rendered necessary by reason of the Works for the accommodation and protection of the owners and occupiers of adjacent prop­erty, the public and others.

2.12. Electricity, Water, and Other Services

An electricity supply will be made available at the Site for the use of the Contractor. The Contractor shall be responsible for making all arrangements for the connections to the point of supply.

2.13. Labour and Staff

The Contractor shall make the necessary arrangements for the provi­sion of suitable skilled and unskilled labour and staff required for the execu­tion, erection and maintenance of the Works. The Contractor shall pay all costs and charges whatsoever in connection with recruitment of labour and staff.

The Contractor shall abide by the Code of Labour applicable in ... with regard to rates of wages and working hours and any regulations issued by the responsible authority regarding the accommodation of and sanitary ar­rangement for labour.
