Business Communication

Text a Business Communication

Any economic system includes businesses, units of government and not-for-profit organisations. They all have much in common: they must be well-run, strong and healthy. To achieve this they must be staffed with people who can properly perform the duties imposed on them by laws or by contracts.

1. Business Communication

Members of'Ihe staff are supposed to be competent, efficient, flexible, persistent, patient. They are believed to know how to handle people, how to maintain good labour relations. Ability to talk to people and to persuade them is also very important, to say nothing about responsibility ' and loyalty towards the organisation.

Conducting day -to-day work, people in business and public ad ministration are engaged in various activities for which they must also have skills of communication.

They must know how to write letters, memoranda, reports, minutes, articles, press releases, how to draw up contracts, business and financial documents, knowledge of foreign languages being very important.

Written communication skills arc also very important because once documents are dispatched3 it is difficult to modify messages. Exchange of opinion, views or attitudes can take place but only over a period of time. No less important are oral communication skills. Employees are expected to know how to speak in public, how to conduct negotiations and hold talks, how to make business arrangements, the telephone remaining indispensable for business communication today. For people working in industry, commerce or government a mastery of telephone techniques is essential.

Normally, businessmen and people in public administration keep in touch Through correspondence or telephone calls, but there's no denying the fact-' that major problems can be solved more effectively through a personal meeting, as the human element can hardly be overestimated. Both parties have equal opportunities to hear out their counterpart's arguments and come to an agreement on the business in hand.
