11. Point out the predicates in the following pairs of sentences and compare them:

    1. You look well today. All looked at the newcomer.

    2. We turned home. His face turned gray.

    3. No trees grew on that barren soil. Each hour she grew weaker.

    4. Where did you get this book? The sea was getting rough.

    5. She will remain here a couple of days. She remained silent.

    6. She felt cold. She felt for her money.

    7. How the boy has grown! The air grew cold.

    8. They were students. There were some people in the room.

    9. This hat becomes you. She became a teacher.

    10. Keep this book till I come back. Why did you keep silent?

12. Point out the predicate in the following sentences and define its kind:

  1. We had a long walk after breakfast.

  2. She takes care of the younger children.

  3. We lost sight of the land in the dense fog.

  4. They took interest in the little fellow.

  5. The boys had a swim in the river.

  6. Suddenly he gave a start.

  7. We all took part in the discussion.

  8. He started, made a short run and stopped.

  9. She gave an unkind throaty laugh.

  10. They were making fun of poor Tom.

  11. Suddenly I changed my mind.

  12. I will get in touch with you.

  13. Then I paid no attention to his words.

  1. Point out the predicative in the following sentences and say what part of speech it is expressed by:
