1. Ninety percent of Scotland has now got a goodиmobile phone service. However, |

ten percent of the country still has no mobile telephone service. Unfortunately, |
Glenloch is part of that ten percent. |

2. At Truefone, we want to give you, the people of Glenloch, a modern mobile |

telephone service so that you too can use mobile phones and make video calls, and so |

3. But don’t worry, you will never see these telephone masts. Why? Because we will make them look like trees. The only thing you will notice is how good your phone
service is. We роhope you will support our plans at the council meeting next week.
4. A majority of residents (62percent) said that they supported the plan. The main reason (mentionedкт by 90 percent) was that they needed a mobile phone for social and
work reasons. Another important reason (given by 52 percent) was that parents wantedеtheir children to have mobile phones for their personal safety.
5.лA minority of the residents (38 percent) felt that the plan was a bad idea. The main Эreason (given by 80 percent) was that mobile phone masts could damage people’s health. The other reason (mentioned by 60 percent) was that masts could look ugly
and ruin the town’s historic appearance.
6. To sum up, while there was a lot of support for the plan for the two mobile phone masts, there was also some opposition. This opposition concerned the exact locations of the masts and possible effects on health. We recommend that a second survey is carried out once the possible locations are known before a final decision is made.

2.Scientists are thinking the unthinkable: can engineering projects save the world from global warming? How can we save the planet if we can not reduce our production of carbon? There are two main approaches to this question.
3.One approach involves the removal of carbon from fossil fuels. There are two ways to do this. The first involves removing carbon from the fuel before it is burnt.

Currently, this happens in Norway where CO2 is removed from natural gas as it comes out of the ground. The second involves capturing the CO2 when it is produced by power stations. Both of these methods are expensive, but they could reduce the CO2 produced by 90 percent.
4. The other approach is to reduce the amount of solar energy which hits the Earth. Some scientists have suggested putting a giant mirror in space. Others have suggested
increasing the number of clouds over the oceans because they reflect back the sun’s rays. This last technique has the advantage of being easy to stop and start.АГНИ
5. There are many unanswered questions about these ideas, but they must be safe and not cause more damage. Any large engineering projects must not harm the Earth or the life on it. Otherwise, the cure for global warming might be worse than the original illness.

1. Basov Nikolai Gennadievich was a famous physicist who helped to invent and develop laser technology and the maser. For his fundamental work in the field of quantum electronics that led to the development of laser and maser Basov shared the Nobel Prize in Physics with Alexander Prokhorov and Charles Hard Townes in 1964.
The three scientists each generated an intense beam of pure microwave radiation called the maser.
2. Basov was born on December 14, 1922 in the village of Usman near Voronezh. He
attended the local school in Voronezh. In 1941 he was called for the military service
and trained as a medical assistant. After being discharged in 1945 Basov entered the
