SCRIPTS
Test 1
Best of all the smart and famous Sonya the dog loved smelling flowers. All
flowers seemed so sweet–scented to it. Therefore, having smelled a flower once
Sonya would always start sneezing. It would sneeze again and again until it felt
dizzy. Its owner used to get cross and claim looking at his dog: “Here you are
again. You’ve spoilt one more bouquet of flowers!”
Sonya treated various kinds of flowers differently. For instance, it did not
like cactuses hence they hurt its nose when it tried to smell them. However, the dog
admired peonies, lilacs and dahlias. Dandelions were its favorites. Having picked a
punch of them it used to sit somewhere at the bench, blow them and watch flower
flocks falling down as if they were snowflakes. This made Sonya feel winter cool
in the middle of hot summer. Its owner once declared: “I do not like it when my
guests drop in and you start sneezing smelling flowers they bring within!”
“I have bought a handkerchief so you may cover your nose with it in case
like this”, he added.
Sonya felt lost imagining itself being surrounded by sweet flowers with a
handkerchief covering its nose. However, it did not utter a word against.
Test 2
The smart and famous Sonya the dog has always been curious. It has wondered
why sugar is sweet, where sausages grow and why people regularly go to work.
Though its owner strongly believed that all its questions were weird he could not
give an answer to a single one. Therefore Sonya seemed to burst out with curiosity.
Once looking at taps the smart and famous Sonya the dog asked her owner Ivan:
“Where does water come from?”
“It is a clear thing: from a pipe”, he replied.
“How does it get into pipes, then?” the dog continued.
“From a river which flows into the sea and then into the ocean” he cleared out.
Sonya was excited when it struck its mind that waters from the ocean contained a
lot of fish in it. The dog was sure that at least one would be caught by her from the
tap in the bathroom.

As soon as Sonya’s owner left, it got a scoop-net from the attic, turned on taps and
waited. Sonya was confirmed a whale, gobies fish or at least sprats would get into
its net. The dog filled in a bath hole with a plug, sprinkled bread crumbs and left.
In ten minutes having heard water splash Sonya rushed into the bathroom to see no
fish but flood there.
Squeezing water out from a rag, it dawned upon the dog that greedy neighbors
from upper floors had already caught out all the fish. From that moment on fishing
seemed absolutely pointless.
Test 3
Once sitting at home and watching TV the smart and famous Sonya the dog
was thinking to itself why people can speak but animals can’t. Suddenly it dawned
upon the dog that a TV could also speak.
“It must be because they plug it in. Perhaps if I’m plugged in, I’ll be able to
speak, too”, it was thinking to itself. So, the dog took its tail and put it into the
socket. At once Sonya felt strong pain as if somebody had bitten it with all its
might. The dog jumped away from it. Ivan Ivanovitch came out from the kitchen,
stroked his dog and said: “Don’t be silly! There is electricity. Take care!”
Looking at the socket with fear the smart and famous Sonya the dog was
wondering what that ELECTRICITY was and how it looked like. The dog really
wanted to adopt it. To do that Sonya put a bone in front of the socket but no
ELECTRICITY appeared. Being upset about this misfortune the dog put a
chocolate candy next to the bone and went for a walk.
Having come home back Sonya found all treats untouched where it had left
them.
“This ELECTRICITY is so weird. It doesn’t eat sweet bones or candies”, the
smart and famous Sonya the dog was contemplating to itself. From that day on
Sonya would stay away from that strange ELECTRICITY.
Test 4
The smart and famous Sonya the dog was sitting at the playground by the
garden wondering if it was better to be little or big.
On the one hand, it is much better to be big as cats, dogs and even passersby
will be frightened of you. On the other hand, there are many pros of being little,

too. Firstly, everyone thinks you are safe and all play with you having no fear.
Secondly, no one puts a muzzle or a dog lead over you.
Right at this time a giant and evil bulldog Max was passing by.
The smart and famous Sonya the dog asked it politely whether it was
unpleasant to wear a muzzle. It is inexplicable to say why but this question made
the bulldog cross. It rushed tearing its lead to pieces to Sonya who was running
towards the fence of a nearby kindergarten to hide. Trying to squeeze into the
fence hole Sonya felt sure it was better to be big.
However, the huge bulldog could not get through the hole barking at tiny
Sonya from its opposite side.
“It is nice to be little as thanks to it I squeezed through the hole easily”, the
dog was contemplating to itself. “However, being as giant as Max I would have
never needed to do that”, it was wondering.
As Sonya was little it became sure that it was much better than being big.
Test 5
One day the owner of the smart and famous Sonya the dog decided to
change wallpaper in his bedroom.
Renovation always seemed meaningless to Sonya as during this process all
the furniture was first moved into the hall, then into the kitchen, then back into the
hall and right into one of the flat rooms afterwards. All this time long the dog used
to be locked in a bathroom not to get in the way.
The dog’s master fixed the ceiling, painted the windowsill and attached the
new green wallpaper to the room walls.
“Splendid”, he exclaimed looking around the bedroom.
However, Sonya disliked the room at all, especially its wallpaper. It was sure
that the previous with yellow flowers was better. Though they did not have any
scent, they were pleasant just to look at. What’s more, the old wallpaper was torn
in some places with pieces sticking out from it. The smart and famous Sonya the
dog thought they were some animals’ ears. So, each time pulling these pieces out
she hoped to catch a hare or a donkey. Finally, it used to have a weird, dark spot in
its corner. Sonya imagined it was some alien it tried to become friends with.

The new wallpaper had none: no flowers, no ears, not a spot. It was
completely green with nothing to look at.
Half a day the dog was wandering around the room. Suddenly a wonderful
idea dawned upon it. It took a box with colorful pencils and started to paint. On
one of the room walls Sonya painted the blue sea with seagulls flying high. On the
next wall there was a meadow with flowers, butterflies, ladybugs and other insects
on it. The dog had an intention to paint the wild forest. However, there was no
wall left for it. With a great sigh Sonya put away the box with pencils, took a
pillow, sat in the middle of the bedroom and imagined itself on the deserted island.
“What is that? Who let you spoil the wallpaper?” the dog heard her master
asking it being cross. The dog was put in the corner for this deed. Though the
smart and famous Sonya the dog hated standing in the corner, this time it was
enjoyable to see the sea from one side and the meadow with flowers on the other
side of it. “I’ve done that not in vain”, it thought to itself.
In a week the new wallpaper was reattached. It was as clean and boring as
the previous.
However, Sonya knew that somewhere beneath them there were buzzing
bees, chirping grasshoppers, singing birds and the blue sea.
