Preface
https://t.me/medicina_free
This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty
one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a
force of Nature instead of a feverish selsh little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.
I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long as I live, it is my
privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the
harder I work, the more I live. Life is no ‘brief candle’ to me. It is a sort of splendid torch
which I have got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible
before handing it on to the future generations.
—George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950).
The craniomaxillofacial structure is an exceptional structure. The face is ultimately
who we dene ourselves as. With this in mind, three specialties (oral and maxillofacial, otolaryngology, and facial plastic surgery) have emerged to provide care to
those who unfortunately need repair of this critical region of the body. This book
discusses the advancements and innovations made in the three specialties in order to
deliver the most effective patient care. We sought the expertise of the world’s leading surgeons to tell this story. Our hope is that the knowledge presented in this book
will assist surgeons in providing optimal care for their patients. We hope this book
will provide a valuable insight and tool for both the trainee and established surgeon.
