The term Genre, which basically means “kind of writing”, can refer to the three broad groupings in literature, namely prose, poetry and drama. But it can also be used to refer to groups within these groups. In the genre of prose, which is the type of writing used in interpretation tests, we can firstly identify two main sub-genres: fiction and non-fiction, and then find further genres within these. Non-fiction can include academic writing on a subject like medicine or geology and the like.
26
Fiction can include sub-genres such as historical novels, science fiction, detective fiction, children’s stories and so on. Occasionally, genres may merge or overlap. Jostein Gaarder’s Sophie’s World is an introduction to philosophy, but it is presented as fiction.
The main idea of this passage is that:
A)Researchers are interested in the diversity in the genre.
B)The term genre includes groups of subgenres that can be combined in one literary work.
C)Genre is a multidisciplinary term.

1___ The popular press found copy in Einstein. Newspaper photographers discovered a highly photogenic subject: his was a face of character: drooping, kindly eyes and wrinkles of humour surrounded by a leonine mane of hair.
2___ The habits of the man were a little irregular; already some of the characteristics expected of the absentminded professor were beginning to show: he lived a simple life uncluttered by possessions and any of the outward trappings of success; when there was no need to be careful he was careless about his dress: sometimes he wore no socks.
3___ All these qualities, combined with the publicised qualities of the man, kindliness, gentleness and warmth, would still not have been sufficient to turn Einstein into the international figure he was to become. The missing ingredient in this recipe for public fame was the apparently incomprehensible nature of Einstein’s work.
4___ For a few years after the publication of the general theory of relativity only a limited number of scientists familiarised themselves with it in detail. Its abstruse nature became legend and absurd stories sprang up around its esoteric significance. It was even rumoured that there were few men in the world who were capable of understanding the theory.
A.Why Einstein’s theory of relativity is difficult to familiarise with.
B.Professor’s lifestyle and habits.

In the new global war on terror, the technology of the passport will onceagainbeupgraded.Inthe not-so-distantfuture,travellersheadingout of Australia will have a passport, equipped, not just with the usual small colourphotograph, but with someformof biometricidentification. Itmay be a scan of the passport holders’ right iris for Testple, since each iris is uniqueandunmistakable, andcanberenderedindigitalformasa complex set of numbers and stored in a database. So no one need ever be mistaken for anyone else again. Passport fraud will be all but eliminated — and in the words of political scientist and historian of the passport, John Torpey, we may all become prisoners of our own identities.
In this age of jumbo jets and mass tourism, it has become easier and easier to move about the world. But as the physical restrictions on travel are reduced, so the bureaucratic barriers and filters on human movement are refined. The success of any given journey will depend on what kind of passport, if any, you hold.
1.War hasn’t contributed to the development of passports.
2.Social conflict has helped create a need for passports.
3.In the nearest future, travelers will have a passport with biometric identification.

Teaching is a complex, multifaceted activity, often requiring us as instructors to juggle multiple tasks and goals simultaneously and flexibly. The following small but powerful set of principles can make teaching both more effective and more efficient, by helping us create the conditions that support student learning and minimize the need for revising materials, content, and policies. While implementing these principles requires a commitment in time and effort, it often saves time and energy later on.
