Participle II - Past Participle Причастие прошедшего времени
Значение

Причастие является неличной формой глагола. Служит определением к существительному, частью сложных временных глагольных форм.

to work – worked [t] to open – opened [d] to want – wanted [id]
правила орфографии:
В двусложных глаголах последняя согласная удваивается только если последний слог краткий и ударный: to omit – omitted.
Эти же правила действуют в отношении английских глаголов, оканчивающихся в инфинитиве на букву –r, эта буква удваивается: to stir – stirred to occur – occurred.
В британском варианте английского языка конечная буква –l всегда удваивается после краткого гласного независимо от места ударения: to travel – travelled

to arrive - arrived
to give – given to write - written
