Text C “Technology of bakery, confectionary and pasta products”

I study at the Tyumen State Agricultural Academy. It was founded in 1959 as an Agricultural Institute. It got the title of the Academy on 3rd April, 1995.

Our Academy has four Institutes: Agro-Technology, Mechanical-Technology, Institute of Economy and Finance and the Institute of Biotechnology and Veterinary Medicine. I am a second-year student of the Mechanical- Technology Institute. Our Institute was founded in 2000.

Nowadays there are seven faculties at the Mechanical- Technology Institute. It has a highly qualified teaching staff. Moreover, there are 28 modern laboratories: laboratories of agricultural machines, tractors and automobiles, well-equipped baking shop and workshops at the Mechanical- Technology Institute.

My future speciality is technology of bakery, confectionary and pasta products. Our faculty trains engineers for food industry. It was established in 2001.

We study many different subjects which are of great importance. They are biochemistry, microbiology, descriptive geometry, English, physical training, History of baking in Russia, chemistry of food products and others. All these subjects help us to become qualified specialists.

At the end of each term our students take tests and exams. Different laboratories, large lecture halls, well-equipped baking shop are at students’ disposal.

Up-to-date machinery, installations and equipment for storage and processing of farm products are the central object of engineer’s work.

A specialist must know the production technology of bread, grain, flour, bakery and pasta products, their nutritional value and chemical composition of ingredients.

Engineers must take into account efficient use of equipment, certificate testing of raw materials and control over quality of foodstuffs.

“Bread is the stuff of life” people say, and it is true. Bread is the basis of our life and that’s why I think, my future speciality is very important and useful.

While studying the students of our faculty have their practical work at the baking shop of our Academy and the bread-making plants of the city. Our specialists can work at food industry enterprises.

On graduating from the Academy, I shall receive a diploma of an engineer. I like my future speciality because it is interesting and necessary one.
