25. Ingenious works of architects, artists and inventors.

Last 500 years in the world history were unforgettable. It’s impossible to tell everything and not to forget important thing, in my brief review I just want to mention the most important events that played the great role in our history.

Nothing stands still. All is in constant process of developing. Every country, every nation made a contribution. Russia is not an exception. Our architects, artists, inventors worked hard for a good cause (во благо).

Since the 17 century, the Gold Age in literature, art, science worked a lot of well-known people that made a trail (след) in world history, among them are Leonardo de Vince, Einstein.

In architecture, paintings, music, theater were opens new style; appeared a great amount of modern innovations in all fields.

Through the ingenious works of artists we should mention the portrait known as the Mona Lisa or "la Gioconda by Leonardo da Vinci. The painting is famous, in particular, for the elusive smile on the woman's face.

Russia is famous for its icon painting. The art of icon painting started in Russia in the 8th and 9th centuries. But only in the 14th century icon painting in Russia took on a much greater degree of personal expression. The most famous figure in this change was Andrey Rublyov, whose works can be viewed in both the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow and the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.

Russia is proud of its famous artists, whose pictures one can see in different picture galleries. They are Levitan, Repin, Surikov, Serov, Vasnetsov, Savrasov and a lot of others.

The 20 century begins with inventing of cinematograph; the inventing of electric bulb, radio, television, computer, mobile telephones many technique devices without which we can’t imagine our life, that help us greatly were prominent and significant.

Internet is the most genius invention. More and more people nowadays are interested to be known about all events, in taking some information quickly. With the help of Internet you can make it easily. You couldn’t destroy Internet – if some computers will be broken down, the rest will work well. Nobody owns the Internet, and no organization controls its use. Now millions of people around the world are logging into libraries, call up satellite weather photos, download computer programs and music, take part in discussion groups.

Millions inventions and the endless number of outstanding discoveries have been made in the last 500 years. All these things prove the power and the greatest progressive role of science in our life. But every medal has its reverse (обр. сторону). And the rapid scientific progress has aroused a number of problems that are a matter of our great concern. These are ecological problems, the safety of nuclear power stations, the nuclear war threat, and the responsibility of a scientist. But still we are grateful to the outstanding men of the past and the present who have courage and patience to disclose the secrets of the Universe.

Sometimes it can seem that everything that could be invented is already invented, but every day appear novelties that impress us.
