1) Begin each class with a controversy or problem.

It means that instead of “We are going to cover things…”, you’ll better begin with “Here’s the question we want to answer.”

2) Use silence to encourage reflection.

A teacher should resist the temptation to fill the silence or answer the question for them.

Move chairs, have students face each other. During a lecture move to different parts of the room.

4) Create a friendly environment.
