Ukraine is situated in the eastern part of Europe. It borders on Russia in the east, Belorussia in the north, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova in the west. Ukraine is washed by the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea in the south. The area of Ukraine is more than 603 thousand square kilometers. The most part of its area is flat. There are the Crimean Mountains in the south and the Carpathians in the west.

The territory of our country lies in three main zones: mixed forests, forest-steppes and steppes. The flora and fauna of our country are extremely rich. The nature of Ukraine is especially beautiful. There are 131 rivers in Ukraine. The longest rivers are the Dniester, the Donets, the Bug. The rivers of Ukraine are navigable. There are more than three hundred cities and towns in Ukraine. The biggest of them are Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dniepropetrovsk, Lviv. Odessa, Mikolayiv, Kherson, Kerch are the most important ports of Ukraine. The capital of Ukraine is Kyiv. It is an administrative, industrial, scientific and cultutal centre. Ukraine is rich in mineral resources: coal, oil, gas. different ores. Some of them are of industrial importance. Ukraine is a developed industrial country. Ukraine produces up-to-date instruments, electronic microscopes, synthetic diamonds. Ukraine is an agricultural country. Its soil is fertile. The geographical position of Ukraine is favourable for maintaining close economic relations with many European countries.

Україна розташована у східній частині Європи. Вона межує з Росією на сході, Білорусії на півночі, Польщею, Словаччиною, Угорщиною, Румунією та Молдовою на заході. Є Кримські гори на півдні і в Карпатах на заході.

На території нашої країни полягає в трьох основних зон: змішаних лісів, лісостепу і степу. Флора і фауна нашої країни дуже багата. Природа Україні особливо гарний. Є 131 річок в Україну. Найдовші річки Дністер, Донець, Буг. Річки Україна судноплавні. Є більш трьохсот великих і малих міст в Україну. Найбільша з них Харкові, Донецьку, Дніпропетровську, Львові. Одеса, Миколаїв, Херсон, Керч найбільш важливих портів Україні. Столиці Україні Києва. Це адміністративний, промисловий, науковий і cultutal центру. Україна багата корисними копалинами: вугіллям, нафтою, газом. різних руд. Деякі з них мають промислове значення. Україна є розвиненою індустріальною країною. Україна виробляє до сучасних приладів, електронних мікроскопів, синтетичних алмазів. Україна є аграрною країною. Його грунт родюча. Географічне положення України є сприятливим для підтримання тісних економічних зв'язків з багатьма європейськими країнами

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on the British Isles. They lie to the north-west of Europe. The British Isles are separated from the continent by the narrow strait of water which is called the English Channel. The United Kingdom consists of four parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. England, the central part, occupies the most of the island of Great Britain. To the north lies Scotland and to the west the third part of the country, Wales, is situated. The fourth part is called Northern Ireland and is located on the second island. Each part has its capital. The capital of England is London, Wales has Cardiff, Scotland has Edinburgh and the main city of Northern Ireland is Belfast. Great Britain is a country of forests and plains. There are no high mountains in this country. Scotland is the most mountainous region with the highest peak, Ben Nevis. The rivers of Great Britain are not long. The longest rivers are the Thames and the Severn. The capital of the United Kingdom, London, stands on the bank of the Thames.

As the country is surrounded by many seas there are some great ports at the seaside: London, Glasgow, Plymouth and others. Wales is a country of lakes. It has the most famous lake in the world — Loch-Ness. Seas and oceans influence the British climate which is not too cold in winter but never hot in summer. Great Britain is a beautiful country with old traditions and good people.

З’єднане Королівство Великобританії і Північної Ірландії розташоване на Британських островах. Вони лежать на північному заході від Європи. Британські острови відділені від континенту вузькою протокою, що називається Ла- Манш. З’єднане Королівство складається з чотирьох частин: Англія, Шотландія, Уельс і Північна Ірландія.

Англія — центральна частина — займає велику частину острова Великобританія. На півночі лежить Шотландія, а на заході розташована третя частина країни — Уельс. Четверту частину називають Північною Ірландією, і вона розташована на іншому острові. Кожна частина має свою столицю. Столиця Англії — Лондон, Уельсу — Кардифф, Шотландії — Единбург і головне місто Північної Ірландії — Белфаст. Великобританія — країна лісів і рівнин. У ній немає високих гір. Шотландія — найбільш гористий район з найвищим піком Бен-Невіс. Ріки Великобританії не довгі. Найдовші ріки — Темза і Северн. Столиця Великобританії, Лондон, розташована на березі Темзи.

Оскільки ця країна оточена безліччю морів, на узбережжі є великі порти: Лондон, Глазго, Плімут та ін. Уельс — країна озер. Тут знаходиться найбільш відоме озеро у світі — Лох-Несс. Моря й океани впливають на клімат: не дуже холодний узимку, але зовсім не жаркий улітку. Великобританія — прекрасна країна з давніми традиціями і гарними людьми.
