3. Causes and effects of air-rage

Nowadays become very actual such social or transport problem as air rage. More and more people face with this problem and it disturbs not only passengers, but all of the flight crew and air rages in addition can be too harmful and dangerous for people on the board.

And now I want to talk about some cases of air rage, about what you must to do in situation, when you face with aggressive people in the aircraft and give some examples of this decease.

Air rage generally covers behavior of a passenger, that is likely caused by physiological stresses associated with air travel or when a passenger becomes unruly, angry or violent on an aircraft during a flight. The excessive consumption of alcohol by the passengers is often blamed by cabin crew and flight attendants.

Unlike ground transport, airplanes enter heights where changes in air pressure can cause temporary psychological changes, such as enhancing the psychoactive effects of chemicals like alcohol which is typically served on board.

Also, stopping and putting off the offenders is often not a practical option because landing is a process that would seriously harm the flight schedule of the aircraft and the number of passengers more than the misbehaving persons. In addition, unlike large ships, there is no room on board to hold the offender in an isolated area until arrival.

Examples of behavior that threatens flight safety include failure to follow safety regulations or behaving in a way that gives suspicion of a threat to flight safety.

Airlines training their stuff and prepare it for such accidents, and now they pay big attention to some strange persons, which can be harmful and dangerous to the passengers of the aircrafts. There were some accidents in near past when some persons tried to open the doors in middle-flight, or attacked stuff. And I think that it is unacceptable and airlines must to call for stiffer penalties against the offenders.

It can be heavy fines for violation in the aircraft, or it can be life-long avoidance of such person flights on this airline, or lawsuits on them, for example and etc.

And now about the case of air rage that happened at 17 February of 2012. Three middle-aged South Africans were on a charter flight from Cape Town, South Africa to Abuja in Nigeria. Derrick, who was drunk, punched one of the flight attendants after she refused to take up his sexual advances at her. The other flight attendant – Mike Vazovsky tried to calm the disturber, but in the end there was a fight between them and then only good teamwork of the flight crew helped to stop the incident and to calm the offender, whose behavior threatened the safety of the flight.

All things considered, air rage incidents are very unpleasant and harmful both to the passengers and stuff on the board. And such violators should be severely punished for their bad behavior in order to prevent such incidents in future.
