2. Plans and ambitions

Work is an effort directed to produce to accomplish something. Everyone have the right for labor. Every person needs at least one profession in his life. There are many reasons why people work for. For example, extrinsic reasons, when a person simply works for a wage and little else, and intrinsic reasons, when a person works for more than the wage. Some people work for the companionship they find among their workmates. In case of many women, it is to escape the restrictive role of housewife. Also work gives people a sense of identity and status.

We spend great part of our lives at our jobs, so choosing a right career is one of the most important decisions you will make in your life. Many students finish high school and begin college without a clear idea of what they want to do in future. There are many types of work: manual (e.g. tailor, shoemaker, goldsmith or barber), office profession (e.g. accountant, manager, clerk or white-collar workers), factor (e.g. constructor and engineer) and intellectual works (e.g. singer, artist and actress). Besides types of work there are many ways of working. An office worker has a nine-to-five or full-time fob with regular working hours. Many workers have to clock on and clock off. In many companies there is system of flextime, which means people can work when they want, within certain limits. Some people work in shifts. People who live in the country commute to work every day. You may get wages, the money you receive for the work done, or salary, the fix payment on a regular basis. If you work a salesman you will get commissions. When people stop work they get a pension.

So it’s not easy task to make the right choice of a job. Our society needs well-educated people. Nowadays the profession of an economist has become one of the most useful, modern and interesting. So I decided to become an economist.

An economist analyses the condition of the market and prospects for its development in the future.

An economist must being competent: knowing one’s job perfectly, being able to communicate with people, being efficient: doing things quickly, not leaving unfinished, having a tidy desk and so on and being highly educated and knowing a lot about the world. It is very important for a specialist in business matters to be a skilful user of computers and to speak at least one or more foreign languages.

There are many advantages of this work. For example, you could work for a big international company, run my own company, write about economics as a financial journalist or run your own International Business Agency. This work satisfying, stimulating and exiting. You will be know last economic news, get good money, met interesting people and do thinks you love.

But there are some disadvantages, because this work is stressful, tiding, tough and demanding. I like this job and I think I may to become a good economist.

So choosing a career and getting a job are two of the most important things, any person does in his lifetime. If we don’t think about the future, we won’t have one.
