What all people need
What is the reason for people getting so much worried about the state of environment? The answer to this question is fairly simple. The thing is the deterioration of the environment is telling heavily on people. They are paying for this with their health. And it is obvious what all people need is a healthy environment.
Concern about the preservation of the environment and its protection from pollution as well as concern about our limited natural resources has given rise to a powerful movement throughout the world. This movement is called environmentalism from the English word "environment".
As many as 159 countries – members of the United Nations Organization – have set up environmental protection agencies. They have worked out hundreds of projects to protect nature. The love of nature and everything living around us is an indispensable part of humanism.
To solve this burning problem it is necessary for people to combine efforts, to raise safety standards at all industrial facilities, to adequately process by-products of industry, to set up an international space laboratory, to monitor the state of environment and set up an international centre for emergency environmental assistance. All these measures will help us to solve these important problems and prevent us from dangerous illnesses and diseases.
The problem of environmental protection is a great concern of the Ukrainian government, especially after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear plant in April 1986. The Ministry of Environmental Protection was founded in Ukraine. Its tasks are to control the state of environment and sources of pollution, to protect the water resources of the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, rivers and lakes, to extend the network of nature reserves and to maintain cooperation with international ecology organizations.
Compaining for environmental protection is supported by public organizations and individuals. The Ukrainian Green Party is very active today. "Zeleny Svit" is the Ukrainian ecological newspaper. It calls on protection of the natural wealth and on using it in a more careful and economical manner for the benefit of the present and future generations. The role of Ukraine in the solution of ecological problems has greatly increased.
