My Working Day ( аудиозапись)

On week-days I usually get up at 7 a. m. I make my bed, open the window and do my morning exercises. Then I go to the bathroom where I clean my teeth and wash. If I have time, I take a cold and hot shower. In ten minutes I am ready for breakfast. I have a cup of tea or coffee and a sandwich.

After breakfast I leave home. I go to my work by bus ( tram, trolley-bus). It takes me forty minutes to get to my office. My work begims at 9 a. m. and lasts till 5 p. m.

At two o’clock I have dinner at our canteen.

I have something substantial for dinner, for example, some soup, hot meat or fish. Then I drink a cup of tea or milk.

I come home at six o’clock in the evening and have a short rest, make some telephone calls and do my housework.

We study many subjects at the Institute, so it takes me two or three hours to get ready for my tutorials and examinations. Sometomes I go to the library to take books. As a rule I have no free time on my week -days.

Eight o’clock is supper time in our family. We all get together in the kitchen, then go to the living-room and watch TV or discuss some problems. Twice a week I go to the sports section.

My Institute

I am a first year student of the Institute. I study at the faculty of … . I want to tell you about my ordinary working day.

As a rule I get up at half past seven. I do my morning exercises, wash and dress and have my breakfast. Usually I eat some sandwiches and drink a cup of tea. Then I am ready to go out. As I live rather far from the Institute, I take a tram or a bus to get there. It takes me about 20 minutes to get to the Institute. At a quarter to nine I am at the Institute. Our first lecture begins at 8.30.

According to our time-table (schedule) we have three and sometimes four lectures a day. The break between the lectures lasts ten minutes.

After breakfast she rings up the Queen Mother. Then she reads personal letters and has an important business consulation with Private Secretary and then works at governments. At 1 o’clock she has a quick lunch in her private apartment in Buckingham Palace and at 2 o’clock leaves the Palace to open a new hospital. There she makes speeches, shakes hands and has a cup of tea. At 4.45 she is back at the Palace and works in her office. At 5.30 she receives foreign visitors and then has the final meeting with her Private Secretary. In the evening she goes to St. Jame’s Palace where she has a reception party and talks with 70 people. Then she goes back to the Palace and at 8.30 has dinner with Philip and a group of some businessmen. At 10 she watches television news and then reads some official papers and telephones some members of the Royal Family – just to see if all is well. At about 11 she goes to bed.
