 4.4. Choose the proper paragraphs for preparing a five-minute speech on one of the proposed topics and present it in both written and oral forms.

 Project work

Collect information and write a factual review on the topic ‘Science and People of Science’. Transfer it into a PowerPoint presentation and make a 5 – 7 minute group presentation.

6.1. Fulfill four tasks as your lexical test:

Task 1. Write derivatives and collocations of the word ‘knowledge’.

Task 2. Build up a group of words extending the idea ‘education’.

Task 3. Translate the following words into your mother tongue:

Initiator, creator, maker, developer, explorer, observer, investigator, polymath, person of encyclopaedic knowledge;

Task 4. Write one sentence using at least 10 words from the active vocabulary of Unit 2. Use as many subordinate clauses as possible. How long can it be?

6.2. Choose a well-known university of the world and write why you might want to study there.

6.3. Interpret the text ‘Researcher’.

6.4. Find information in any easy to access source (naming the source) and give your pro or against arguments about the idea that contemporary world needs (or doesn’t need) researchers with interdisciplinary (polymath) scope of vision. Present your opinion in the format of a 5-minute speech.
