Ex. 1. Прочитайте та запам’ятайте наступні слова та вирази:

exhibition - виставка, показ. Близьке за зна­ченням слово: fair — виставка, яр-марка; world fair — всесвітня вис­тавка

processing equipment- технологічне обладнання. Близькі за значенням слова: machinery — машинне устаткування, машини; apparatus - - прилад, апаратура; instrument — прилад, інструмент. Shipborne (airborne) equipment — бортове обладнання корабля (літа­ка)

to correspond to smth- відповідати чому-небудь (бути від­повідними). Синоніми: to be con­ sistent with smth. to be in line with smth, to be in accordance with smth

• well-known - добре відомий, широковідомий (знаменитий). Синоніми: popular, famous. Порівняйте: familiar, known — знайомий, відомий

performance- 1) технічні характеристики, експлу­атаційні якості (машин, обладнання тощо); 2) виконання; 3) спектакль. Синоніми: technical' characteristics —технічні характеристики, proper­ ties — властивості

start-up - пуск, запуск, приведення до робо­чого стану (обладнання тощо). Си­ноніми: starting, setting in motion — пуск (машини, обладнання); launch — запуск (ракети)

standart - стандартний, типовий, зразко­вий; 2) стандарт. Синоніми: usual - звичайний; common -1) звичайний; 2)спільний

to put smth into operation (service, commission)- вводити що-небудь у експлуатацію здійснювати запуск (обладнання тощо). Синоніми: to set smth to work, to bring smth into operation

training - 1) підготовка, навчання (за місцем роботи, на курсах тощо); 2) освіта. 3)тренування

maintenance - 1) технічне обслуговування; 2) ут­римання, засоби до існування;

Ex. 2. Прослухайте, прочитайте та перекладіть діалог:

Victor Klymenko is at the exhibition which is being held in London. The stand of one of the American companies has attracted his attention. At the moment he is talking to Mrs Foster, the Sales Manager for the company.

- Good afternoon, Mrs Foster. I'm the Commercial Director of a Ukrainian company. Here's my card.

— Good afternoon, Mr Klymen­ko. Have you seen our advertis­ing material?

• Yes. Your Stand-Attendant gave them to me.

• Does our new processing equipment interest you?

- Yes. We are looking for new machinery for our factory in Kyiv. We need to decide what equipment to buy.

• Our new equipment is not a bad choice, Mr Klymenko. It cor­responds to the highest technical level and the highest standards existing in the world today.

• But your company has not been well-known until recently.

- You're right. We have been often considered as a second-tier player behind some well-known companies like Continental Equipment and MGM Instru­ments. Our company was viewed as one that was only good for some things. That's changed, we're now respected as a compa­ny as capable as Continental Equipment in our field.

— I was impressed by the perfor­mance of your equipment. I've seen a lot of similar systems at the exhibition ... but your equip­ment outperforms them.

- We've worked hard and we've achieved some success, Mr Kly­menko.

— How long is the guarantee for your equipment, Mrs Foster?

- Twelve months from the start­up of the equipment, this is stan­dard.

- How long will it take you to deliver two sets of this equipment to Kyiv?

— Of standard design? -Yes.

- Two-three weeks from the date of payment.

— And to put it into operation?

• Two-five days depending on the model.

• Is it possible to arrange train­ing for our operators in your training centres?

• What kind of training, Mr Klymenko?

• To teach them to operate the equipment properly.

• There is no need to send your specialists to our training centres, Mr Klymenko. The equipment is fully computerized. It's easy for even inexperienced personnel to operate it.

• Fine. We are also very inter­ested in maintenance.

• We provide technical support for all our equipment.

• And could you tell me if it's possible to adapt your equipment to our conditions?

— I think you'd better discuss it with our Consultant, Mr Berger. At the moment he's over there, by the next stand. He'll reply to all your questions concerning the design of our equipment.

- Thank you, Mrs Foster.

Ex. 3. Пригадайте які види виставок бувають і перекладіть їх назви на англійську мову:

Ex. 4. Уявіть, що Ваша компанія бере участь у виставці і представляє на стенді свої вироби. До Вас із запитанням підійшов представник американської компанії. Виконайте наступні дії:

- представте себе і запитайте, яку компанію представляє він;

- з'ясуйте, що саме зацікавило його у вашій експозиції; — опишіть основні технічні характеристики виробів, які ви­робляє чи дистриб'ютором яких є Ваша компанія;

• виділіть ті особливості виробів, які, на Вашу думку, вигідно відрізняють їх від аналогічних товарів Ваших конкурентів;

• вкажіть на який термін служби розраховані Ваші вироби, яка тривалість гарантійного строку, яку підтримку Ваша компанія надає користувачам цих виробів, скільки ви­робів і у який строк Ваша компанія готова поставити по­купцю.
