“Surgutneftegas” is a vertically integrated company, set up in 1993, during reorganization of Russian oil industry. Companies included in"Surgutneftegaz" have the 36 years of experience in crude oil recovery and refining, almost a century trade distribution of petrochemical products at the North West of Russia.
In 1999 "Surgutneftegaz" achieved a record growth of crude oil recovery for recent years-2.4 million of tones more then in 1998, the increase is 6.8 %."Surgutneftegaz" is the largest producer of accompanying petroleum gas and the largest gas producer in Russia. According to DeGolyer and Mac Naughton estimation, the recovering crude oil and gas quantities are equal to 2 250, 6 million ton of crude oil equivalent.
The recovered crude oil quality is average, compared to the other Russian producers, sulphur content -around 1 %, but at the same time meets the world quality standards and is competitive at the world market. “Surgutneftegaz" is a leader of the advanced technology application for the complete crude recovery. The company is a leader among Russian oil companies and has the same level as the World wide known companies.

TNK-BP - is one of the leading petroleum companies in Russia and it is one of the world's top 10 biggest private petroleum companies in the world from the point of view of the crude oil production. The company was founded in 2003 as a result of the consolidation of oil and gas assets of the VR company in Russia and petroleum assets of Alfa Renova company (AAR). BP and AAR own the company TNK-BP on a parity basis. TNK-BP is a vertically integrated petroleum company. It holds in its portfolio a large part of the production, processing and marketing assets in Russia and Ukraine. In 2005, the extraction volume averaged 1.58 million tons a day or 76 million tons per year that is 6% more compared to 2004. Taking into consideration the fact that TNK-BP has a 50% share in "Slavneft" company, the volume of the extracted oil was 1.82 million tons a day or 87.6 tons per year in 2005. The staff of TNK-BP company, which numbers about 93 thousand people, generally works in the eight biggest regions of Russia and Ukraine.
