The Rotating Machinery, Laminar Flow Interface

The Rotating Machinery, Laminar Flow interface (), found under the Single-Phase Flow>Rotating Machinery branch () in the Model Wizard, is available for 3D and 2D models. When this interface is added, these default nodes are also added to the Model BuilderFluid Properties, Wall, Rotating Wall, and Initial Values. See Rotating Domain, Initial Values, and Rotating Wall.

Except for the interface identifier, see The Single-Phase Flow, Laminar

Flow and Creeping Flow Interfaces for all the other settings.

Note

This interface changes to The Rotating Machinery, Turbulent Flow, k-

Interface when the Turbulence model type selected is Rans, k- .

The interface identifier is a text string that can be used to reference the respective physics interface if appropriate. Such situations could occur when coupling this interface to another physics interface, or when trying to identify and use variables defined by this physics interface, which is used to reach the fields and variables in expressions, for example. It can be changed to any unique string in the Identifier field.

The default identifier (for the first interface in the model) is rmspf.

The Rotating Machinery, Turbulent Flow, k- Interface

The Rotating Machinery, Turbulent Flow, k- interface (), found under the

Single-Phase Flow>Rotating Machinery branch () in the Model Wizard, is available for 3D and 2D models and is used for the modeling of flow where one or more of the boundaries rotate in a constant and periodic fashion. This is used for mixers and propellers. The interface supports compressibility and noncompressibility, non-Newtonian fluids using the power law and Carreau models, and even turbulence. This interface also supports creeping flow, although the shallow channel approximation is redundant.
