Our University
I study at Voronezh State Technical University. It is a large scientific and
educational centre. Founded in 1930 as the Civil Engineering Institute, it gained its
status of the State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering in 1995. In 2016
Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering and Voronezh State
Technical University were reorganized into a regional university – flagship
University in Central Chernozem Region.
The University trains specialists and offers additional training in 25 areas and
11 faculties and institutes: the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Faculty of
Engineering Systems and Constructions, the Faculty of Architecture and Town
Planning, the Faculty of Roads and Traffic Science, the Faculty of Building
Technology, the Faculty of Economics, Management and Information Technology,
the Faculty of Master Degree, the Cultural and Educational Faculty and others.
I study at the Faculty of Economics, Management and Information Technology
and get a good standard of education because there are 1000 highly-qualified
teaching staff professionals. I am a full time student. Our education combines
classical university education with special courses on Economics. There are also
several specialized areas of study at our faculty. Among them are money economics,
international economics, labour economics, industrial economics, construction
economics, agricultural economics, etc. Our University offers courses for training
experts in a variety of fields, such as civil engineers, architects, designers,
technologists, sanitary technical engineers, road builders, mechanic engineers,
economists, fire safety engineers, public relations managers and others.
More than 20 000 students (including foreign students from 57 countries of
Asia, Africa, South America, and Middle East) study at the day-time and
correspondence departments. The University confers different bachelor, master’s and
professional degrees and the period of study is from 4 till 6 years, depending on the
qualification.

Our University has established relations with universities in Europe, Asia, and
Latin America and we have many opportunities for international exchange and
cooperation. Today the university possesses a certificate that allows its graduates to
work in 140 countries all over the world. The university publishes scientific works,
textbooks, monographs, and teaching manuals. The students actively participate in all
types of scientific work and research. Knowledge of English and other foreign
languages is very important for the international exchange and scientific work. The
reading of original literature is also crucial to get the latest information. At the
University students, masters can study English and receive additional professional
education “Translator in the field of professional communication”. Good education is
very important in the “information age”.
Now the University occupies seven buildings. Its research laboratories and
lecture rooms are equipped with modern facilities. Our University has also computer
laboratories. Students have facilities to use the Internet.
At the disposal of the students there is a large and well-stocked library, a
computer centre, a student’s sports camp in the picturesque suburbs of Voronezh, a
two-stored refectory, and a number of snack bars. Students live in the halls of
residence on campus and in private flats off campus.
Sports are also very important and we have excellent sports facilities. Five
gyms and a swimming pool are for the students who are fond of sports. Besides
regular physical training classes we have several sports sections, such as badminton,
volleyball, boxing, football, table tennis and others. Students can go in for 20 kinds of
sports.
Cultural life is also very important for students. We have student rock and folk
groups, a student dance group and a Student English theatre-studio.
Teaching at our University can be carried out through distance learning or elearning, continuing education or correspondence courses. It includes postgraduate
programmes (additional) for those who want to improve their qualifications, bring
their skills up to date or retrain for a new line of work.
Our graduates work at construction job sites, at different building companies
and enterprises, in design and scientific research institutes.
The University is headed by the rector who aims to hold the university on the
key position of teaching and research.
I am very proud to be a student of Economics at our University.
