The Faculty of Physical Training and Life
Safety was founded in 1989. There are Candidates,
Doctors of Science and professors in the teaching staff
of the faculty. More than 300 full-time students and
part-time students study here.

The specialty of a teacher of Physical Training
for Children with Mental Disorders with a qualification of a specialist in adapted

The Faculty has its branch in Michailovka, Volgograd Region, where full-time
and part-time students are trained. It also co-operates with the pedagogical college of
Michailovka and the boys’ pedagogical lyceum of Volgograd.

1. Find out the information of the faculty
The Faculty of Philology was opened in
1932 as a department of Languages and Literature
of Stalingrad State Pedagogical Institute. It
included full-time, extra-mural and evening forms
of education.
In 1946 a merging of the Faculty of
Philology and the Faculty of History took place.
The Faculty of Philology and History had existed
till 1985. In 1985 the Faculty of Philology and the
Faculty of History were parted again.
Since its foundation the faculty has been training teachers of the Russian
Language and Literature. Nowadays it also prepares teachers of the Russian
Language, Literature and Foreign Language (English and German), Bachelors and
Masters of Philology Education.
The Faculty of Philology has its own graduate courses in specialties of “the
Russian Language” and “Russian Literature”.
There are three chairs at the faculty: the chair of the Russian Language and
Methods of Teaching It, the chair of Linguistics, and the chair of Literature. A
teaching staff of the faculty has about 20 Doctors of Science and about 30 Candidates
of Science.
Intensive scientific research in Russian Dialectology, Theoretical Semantics
and Phraseology is held on the chairs of the faculty. The scientific school of the
faculty is one of the most authoritative among higher educational establishments of
the Russian Federation.

1. Find out the information of the faculty
The faculty of Psychology and Social Work was founded in 1995. It includes
two departments – the department of Psychology and the department of Social Work.
The teaching staff of the faculty consists of 30 tutors. Among them there are
professors, Doctors and Candidates of Psychological and Pedagogical Sciences.
There is a methodical cabinet, where you can find academic and scientific library of
psychology and social work. It includes not only works in Russian but 400 books in
foreign languages. There is also a cabinet of diagnostics and computer classrooms
with Internet access. The faculty has two chairs: the chair of Psychology of
Education and Development and the chair of Social
Work. More than 300 full-time students and about 40
part-time students study here.
At the faculty of Psychology and Social Work there
are research and methodical labs: the laboratory of
Communicative Computing Educational Systems, and the
laboratory of Social-Psychological Support of Social
Work Specialists. There is also the Center of Art-Creative
Technologies in Social Work.
The faculty prepares Bachelors of Pedagogy and Social Work, pedagoguespsychologists, social workers, specialists of Art-Creative Technologies in Social
Work and postgraduates with speciality of Pedagogical Psychology. Part-time
students are taught in speciality of Social Work.
The faculty of Psychology and Social Work co-operates with different
educational establishments, institutions of youth policy and social protection.

1. Find out the information of the faculty
The faculty of Natural Sciences was founded in October 1931 on basis of
Chemical-Biological department of Stalingrad Industrial Pedagogical Institute.
Today there are seven chairs at the faculty: the
chair of Botany and Methods of Teaching Biology; the
chair of Zoology, Ecology and General Biology; the
chair of Morphology, Men’s Physiology and MedicalPedagogical Studies; the chair of Physical Geography
and Geoecology; the chair of Chemistry and Methods
of Teaching Chemistry; the chair of Economical and
Social Geography and Methods of Teaching
Geography; the chair of Park and Landscape Design. There are full-time and parttime departments at this faculty. The faculty prepares teachers of Biology, teachers of
Geography, teachers of Chemistry and landscape designers.
Nowadays the faculty of Natural Science is one
of the most prestigious faculties of VSSPU and
among other higher educational establishments of
Volgograd and the south of Russia. A teaching staff of
the faculty has about 11 Doctors of Science and about
45 Candidates of Science. Many of them are the
graduates of our university. The staff of the faculty
takes part in various international programs and gets
scientific grants: the USA National Geographical Society, the Global Economical
Fund, National Society for Protection of Birds, International Society of Heart
Research.
There is a students’ self-government which is carried out by students’ dean’s
office. It organizes scientific, cultural, social and sport activities. Students take an
active part in cultural life of Volgograd State Social Pedagogical University. There is
a students’ stage theatre “Pulse” at the faculty. Students of the faculty also greatly
enjoy their field practices in different parts of our country and abroad.

1. Find out the information of the faculty
The faculty of History and Law was founded in
October 1931. There are four chairs at the faculty: the chair
of General History, the chair of Russian History, the chair
of Theory and Methods of Teaching History, Social Science
and Law, and the chair of Law. There are also full-time and
part-time departments at this faculty.
A teaching staff of the faculty has about 8 Doctors of
Science and about 15 Candidates of Science. Many of them are the graduates of our
university.

Two archeological clubs “The Legend” and “The

Since 2007 there functions the School of Young
Historian. More than 50 senior pupils attend and enjoy these
classes.

1. Find out the information of the faculty
The Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and IT is
situated in Building No. 2, Akademicheskaya Street.
It consists of 7 chairs: the chair of Algebra and
Geometry, the chair of Maths Analysis, the chair of
Methods of Teaching Mathematics, the chair of
Common Physics, the chair of Theoretical Physics,
the chair of Theory and Methods of Teaching Physics and Computing Science, and
the chair of IT in Education.
The Faculty of Physics and Mathematics is one of the oldest faculties of
VSSPU. Training Physics teachers and Mathematics teachers was held at the faculty
since 1931. The Faculty of Mathematics and the Faculty of Physics became
independent faculties in 1933. Then the faculties were united again. Since 1961 the
Faculty of Physics became an independent department. But in 1978 it became a part
of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics again. As independent departments, the
Faculty of Mathematics and the Faculty of Physics had being existed since 1992 till
2010. Finally on the 1st of September 2010 the Faculty of Physics and the Faculty of
Mathematics were united into the Faculty of
Mathematics, Physics and IT.
Teaching and research are carried out by
highly qualified staff of the faculty. There are
Academicians, Doctors of Science, Candidates of
Science and corresponding members of the
Russian Education Academy and other
academies.
An active students’ research is held at the
faculty. Students take part in university and AllRussia scientific conferences. The results of their
research are published in different students’ scientific magazines.
Tutors of the faculty co-operate with teachers of different schools of Volgograd
and Volgograd Region to develop modern approach in secondary and higher
education.
