The Infinitive – инфинитив
Инфинитив – это неопределенная форма глагола, которая называет действие, но не указывает на число и лицо. Формальный признак инфинитива
– частица to.
We would like to join you – Мы бы хотели присоединиться к вам.
Формы инфинитива
В активном залоге инфинитив имеет четыре формы:
1.Simple Infinitive (простой инфинитив): to + начальная форма глагола.
His dream is to become a pilot. – Его мечта – стать летчиком.
2.Continuous Infinitive (длительный инфинитив): to be + глагол с окончанием -ing.
She always pretends to be sleeping when she doesn’t want to talk. – Она всегда притворяется спящей, когда не хочет разговаривать.
3.Perfect Infinitive (перфектный инфинитив): to have + третья форма глагола.
I hope to have finished the project by the end of this year. – Я надеюсь завершить проект к концу этого года.
4.Perfect Continuous Infinitive (перфектно-длительный инфинитив): to have + been + глагол с окончанием -ing.
I’m so happy to have been practicing yoga for years. – Я так счастлива, что занимаюсь йогой уже много лет.
В пассивном залоге у инфинитива две формы:
1.Simple Infinitive Passive (простой инфинитив пассивного залога): to be +
третья форма глагола.
To be repaired, this car needs a new engine. – Для ремонта этому автомобилю нужен новый двигатель.
2.Perfect Infinitive Passive (перфектный инфинитив пассивного залога): to have + been + третья форма глагола.
The project was supposed to have been finished by now. – Предполагали, что проект должен был быть завершен к настоящему времени.
Функции в предложении
Инфинитив может выполнять одну из следующих функций:
•подлежащее

I can solve this problem. – Я могу решить эту проблему.
The problem is to be solved. – Проблема должна быть решена.
