COUNTABLE AND UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS

Countable nouns

Can be counted: (one pen, two pens, etc.)

Have the plural form: (a pen – pens)

Can be used with indefinite (a/an) and definite articles (the): (a student, an apple, the laboratory)

Take a singular or plural verb: Where is a pen? Where are pens?

Can be used with some and any + plurals:

David wrote some repots about nuclear physics.

Do you have any monitors for our control room?

Can be used with many and few + plurals:

I have many things to do.

Few physicists deal with nuclear safety.

Few = not many

A few = some, a small number

Uncountable nouns

Cannot be counted: (water, energy, love, ect.)

Have the singular form: (music, oil, etc.)

Can be used with a definite article (the):

TRANSITIVE AND INTRANSITIVE VERBS

Transitive verbs need an object. Intransitive verbs don‟t need an object. Compare the pairs of sentences, find the verbs and objects.
