1. Пояснительная записка

Данное учебно-методическое пособие “Miss Mactaggart won’t Lie Down” рекомендуется для студентов 1 курса дневного отделения юридического факультета.

Целью пособия является развитие у студентов необходимого уровня коммуникативной компетенции для решения социально-коммуникативных задач в различных областях культурной и профессиональной деятельности.

Основными задачами, которые решаются в данном учебно-методическом пособии являются формирование навыков восприятия на слух и понимания просматриваемых фрагментов фильма с полным пониманием и с пониманием основного содержания, а также развитие лексико-грамматических навыков, развитие умений монологического высказывания по предложенным вопросам и умений обсуждать полученную информацию в различных формах взаимодействия студентов в пределах группы.

Пособие состоит из двух разделов (эпизодов фильма), включающих вводные задания, затем сопутствующие просмотру фрагмента фильма задания – на заполнение пропущенной информации или извлечение необходимой информации, задания после просмотра фильма: а) задания направленные на тренировку лексического и грамматического материала, б) репродуктивные задания (выражение мнения по предложенным темам, изложение краткой информации по проблемам, поднятым в тексте), а также дискуссии на заданные темы. Все упражнения рассчитаны на формирование умений и навыков, необходимых для осуществления различных видов речевой деятельности.

На каждый раздел рекомендуется отводить 4-6 аудиторных часов и 2,5 часа для самостоятельной работы, хотя в зависимости от уровня подготовленности студентов программа может меняться.

Авторы надеются, что данное пособие будет соответствовать принципам коммуникативной направленности, культурной и педагогической целесообразности, а также позволит студентам соответствовать уровню выпускных требований по дисциплине «Иностранный язык» с учетом специфики вуза и потребностей студентов.

Pre-watching tasks

Task 1. Warming-up Activity

Suppose you return to your hometown after a two-month holiday in Spain (or in some other foreign country) and find out that somebody has stolen your suitcase with all the documents (your Russian passport, the passport for travelling abroad, the identity card, your driving license, etc.)

How would you feel having learnt this?

(shocked, amazed, surprised, astonished, excited, upset, in despair, at a loss, terrified (badly frightened), scared, angry, irritated (annoyed), in a rage or fine, great, happy, bright, pleased etc.)

What would you do in such situation?

(to express/hide/disguise/control/revel/relieve one's emotions, to cope with one’s feelings, to get angry at smb./smth., to let off steam, to burst out laughing/

crying, to behave calmly and coolly, to take one’s irritation out on smb., to throw tantrums, to scream and yell at smb., to keep/lose one’s temper, to fly into a rage; to seek legal advice, to consult a lawyer, to address the police, to bring a lawsuit against the airport’s staff, etc.)

Task 3. Watch the first episode of the film and fill in the missing phrases in the following dialogues.

MM: Oh, … well… I suppose it’s a considerable problem. There is an ancient French law which was ________ by James the Scotland.

MMt: As far as what you see is Jannie Mactaggart. That’s me who has no legal identity, in fact, that the law is considered. I’m not alive.

MM: Regreat, perhaps, that’s a situation.

MM: I’m afraid you have to, Madam.

MMt: You’ve started the process by calling me Madam. You’ve knowing me for
