1.9.1\ Scanning Method

The patient should be on fast for 8–12 h with a supine position. Transducer is placed transversely in the middle line of the subxiphoid. The sound beam should be posterior-superior in direction.

1.9.2\ Section Structure

The ligamentum teres hepatis which is located in the left longitudinal fissure of the liver appears as a bright echogenic focus on the sonogram and is seen as a rounded termination of the falciform ligament. Oblique section of left internal and external lobe. Oblique section

of the left hepatic lobe, right lobe, abdominal aorta, and esophagus.

1.9.3\ The Clinical Application Value

The ligament teres hepatis is a bounder mark of the left internal lobe and left external lobe. As a hyperechogenic structure, it should be distinguished from hemangioma as well as calcifications. In patients with portal hypertension, the paraumbilical vein can be shown in the oblique section of ligament teres hepatis which is a round anechoic area and can be filled by color Doppler blood signal in the condition of CDFI.
