7  Vascular System Scanning

171

2.18.1\ Scanning Method

The subjects take the supine or sitting position. The probe scans along the anterior tibial artery distal end. The anterior tibial develops to be the dorsal artery at the midpoint between the internal and external malleolus. Dorsalis artery is superficial, so we can touch its beating.

2.18.2\ Sectional Structure

Longitudinal section vessel structure of the dorsal artery of foot is displayed.

2.18.3\ Measurement Methods

The diameter of the dorsal artery of the foot is measured.

2.18.4\ Clinical Significance

This section can be used to judge whether there is arteriosclerosis obliterans, arterial embolism, thrombosis, arterial aneurysm, or arteriovenous fistula in the dorsal artery.

2.18.5\ Note

In the examination of the lower limbs arteries, if necessary, we should detect the external iliac, the common iliac artery, and the abdominal aorta and even the aortic arch.

7  Vascular System Scanning

2.19.1\ Scanning Method

The subject takes a supine or sitting position; the probe scans along the anterior tibial artery distal end downward. The anterior tibial develops to be the dorsal artery at the midpoint between the internal and external malleolus. Dorsalis artery is superficial, so we can touch its beating.

2.19.2\ Sectional Structure

A cross section of the dorsalis artery is shown in this plane.

2.19.3\ Measurement Methods

The diameter of the dorsal artery of the foot is measured.

2.19.4\ Clinical Significance

This plane can be used to judge whether there is arteriosclerosis obliterans, arterial embolism, thrombosis, arterial aneurysm, or arteriovenous fistula in the dorsalis artery.

2.19.5\ Note

Blood vessels of the lower limbs need to be detected. If necessary, we should detect the external iliac, the common iliac artery, the abdominal aorta, and even the aortic arch.
