7  Vascular System Scanning

157

2.7.1\ Scanning Method

The subject takes the supine position with the arm stretched out; the probe is longitudinally placed on the wrist of the forearm anterior to the radial bone.

2.7.2\ Sectional Structure

The long axis section of the radial artery is shown.

2.7.3\ Measurement Methods

The diameter, blood flow velocity, and resistant index of the radial artery measured.

2.7.4\ Clinical significance.

This plane can be used to diagnose luminal stenosis or occlusion, thrombosis, and aneurysm of the radial artery.

2.8.1\ Scanning Method

The subject takes the supine position and stretches the arm out; probe is longitudinally placed on the wrist of the forearm anterior to the ulnar bone.

2.8.2\ Sectional Structure

The longitudinal section of the ulnar artery lumen is viewed.

2.8.3\ Measurement Methods

The inner diameter and blood flow spectrum of the ulnar artery are measured.

2.8.4\ Clinical Significance

This section can be used to judge if there are arteriosclerosis obliterans, thrombosis, stenosis, arterial aneurysm, and so on in ulnar artery.

2.9.1\ Scanning Method

The subject takes a supine position and stretches the lower limb out. The probe is placed on or below the inguinal region to transversely scan the common femoral artery.

2.9.2\ Sectional Structure

The cross-sectional view of the common femoral artery is round with pulsation and is located external of the common femoral vein. Its lumen does not easily become flat when pressed.

2.9.3\ Measurement Methods

Measuring the intima-media thickness and inner diameter of the common femoral artery.

2.9.4\ Clinical Significance

To judge whether there is arteriosclerosis obliterans, arterial embolism, thrombosis, arterial aneurysm, or arteriovenous fistula in the common femoral artery.
