7  Vascular System Scanning

153

2.5.1\ Scanning Method

The subject takes the supine position with the arm stretched; the probe is longitudinally placed in the sulcus bicipitalis medialis, and a longitudinal scan of the brachial artery is performed.

2.5.2\ Section Structure

The longitudinal section shows the long axis of the brachial artery.

2.5.3\ Measuring Method

The inner diameter of the brachial artery is measured.

2.5.4\ Clinical significance

This plane can be used to diagnose luminal stenosis or occlusion, thrombosis, and aneurysm of the brachial artery.

7  Vascular System Scanning

155

2.6.1\ Scanning Method

The subject takes the supine position with the arm stretched out; the probe is transversely placed in the sulcus bicipitalis medialis, and a transverse scan of the brachial artery is performed.

2.6.2\ Sectional Structure

The cross section of the brachial artery accompanied with the brachial vein. Brachial artery is pulsatile.

2.6.3\ Measurement Methods

The inner diameter and blood flow velocity of the brachial artery measured.

2.6.4\ Clinical Significance

This plane can be used to diagnose stenosis or occlusion, thrombosis, aneurysm, and other diseases of the brachial artery.
