3.1.1\ Method

The patient should have a full urinary bladder. Probe is placed in the abdominal wall of the hypogastrium; scan is carried out from multi-­angle and multi-plane transversally, longitudinally, and obliquely. The direction of sound beam through the bladder is the maximum section of ovary.

3.1.2\ Section Structure

The anechoic part inferior to the abdominal wall is the distended bladder, and behind the bladder is the ovary; there is inequality of size of orbicular-­ ovate anechoic ovarian follicle in the ovary.

3.1.3\ Measuring Method and Normal

The childhood ovary is small, the volume of the ovary is 2 cm before 12 years, there are many ovarian follicles, the maximum diameter is ≥ 0.4 cm, and the largest diameter may even reach 0.9 cm.

3.1.4\ The Clinical Application Value

It could exclude diseases of the ovary if ultrasound exam detects normal ovary; however, it could not consider ovary absence or dysplasia if ultrasound exam does not detect normal ovary.

3.2.1\ Method

The patient should have a full urinary bladder. Probe is placed in the abdominal wall of the hypogastrium, and scanning is carried out by multiangle and multi-plane. The direction of sound beam through the bladder is the maximum section of ovary.

3.2.2\ Section Structure

The anechoic area posterior to the abdominal wall is the distended bladder. The right ovary is located in the left, posterior to the bladder, and the left ovary is located in the right, posterior to the bladder. There are inequality of size and orbiculare-­ ovate anechoic ovarian follicle in both ovaries. The largest diameter may even exceed 2.0 cm.

3.2.3\ Measuring Method and Normal

The measurements of the ovary include ovary size, the number of ovarian follicle, and the size

of the biggest ovarian follicle; the size of the ovary is determined by its length, width, and thickness measuring from two maximum sections that are vertical. The size of the ovary changes along with the number of ovarian follicle and the change of dominant follicle size; the length of ovary could exceed 3 cm.

3.2.4\ The Clinical Application Value

It could exclude diseases of the ovary if ultrasound exam detects normal ovary; however, it could not consider ovary absence if ultrasound exam does not detect normal ovary, though the exam of the number and size of ovarian follicle can help to know whether or not there is polycystic ovary and to know about the development condition of ovary follicle and monitoring of ovulation.
