5.7.1\ Scanning Method

The patient should be on fast for 8–12 h, with a supine position. The patient must drink 800– 1000 mL of water to fill the stomach. The scan must be operated along the short axis direction of the stomach to the upper abdomen.

5.7.2\ Section Structure

Major area: short axis section of the stomach body.

5.7.3\ Measuring Method and Normal

Measuring gastric wall thickness. Thickness of a normal stomach is approximately 3–5 mm, and greater than 6 mm is thought to be abnormal.

5.7.4\ Clinical Application Value

Showing the anterior wall and posterior wall of the stomach body. The wall of greater curvature and lesser curvature will be observed.

5.8.1\ Scanning Method

The patient should be on fast for 8–12 h, with a supine position; the probe is transversely inclined to the upper abdomen, slightly oblique to the right posterior. The patient must drink 800– 1000 mL of water to fill the stomach.

5.8.2\ Section Structure

Major area: longitudinal section of the gastric angular, antrum, and part of the gastric body.

Ancillary areas: transverse section of the abdominal aorta, superior mesenteric artery and superior mesenteric vein, and inferior vena cava.

The splenic vein and head of the pancreas. Oblique scanning of the the splenic vein and the pancreatic head.

5.8.3\ Measuring Method and Normal

Measurement of the wall thickness of the gastric antrum and thickness of the normal stomach is approximately 3–5 mm. Thickness of 6 mm is thought to be abnormal.

5.8.4\ Clinical Application Value

Diagnosing diseases of the gastric angular and antrum.
