Summary

Jack and Jill want to sell their old toys. They don't need them anymore. So they go to the street market. There are many children at the market. Jack and Jill sell a ball and a doll. They are hungry and buy two hot cross buns. They see a parrot and want to buy it. But they don't have enough [ı'nʌf] (достаточно) money. So they exchange (меняют) their toys for the parrot. The children are happy. The parrot is happy too. The parrot says, "I like you".

Proverb: No money, no fun. (No money, no funny.)

(No mon, no fun.) – Без денег нет удовольствия.

Past Simple (Past Indefinite) используется для выражения: 1. действия в прошлом, не связанного с настоящим, 2. повторяющихся дей­ствий в прошлом и 3. ряда последовательных действий в прошлом (= рассказ).

Сигнальные слова:

yesterday, the other day, in 1995, a month (an hour/ long) ago, last week (/time/ year/summer), on Tuesday, every day, often, always, ne­ver, just now,

в вопросах с when и where. А также: What did you say? I didn't hear your question. I forgot his name. Now I understood. I saw him just now.

Exercise 12. Write the summary using the Past Simple (Past Indefinite):
