e-Business

For e-business, there is a requirement to integrate with external systems, such as sending a document to a business-to-business exchange, or other systems external to the local application. Workflow supports e-business integration workflows by allowing business analysts and developers to model business processes spanning different systems using a graphical drag-and-drop designer - the Workflow Builder - and run those processes using the Workflow Engine and the Business Event System. This support allows Workflow customers to deal with business objects in comprehensive e-business integration flows, with minimal intrusion into the core application. Mandating the use of credit cards for purchases less than a designated amount can provide a significant benefit to certain web stores. For many corporations, transactions below a certain threshold amount are written off as bad debt. Tracking and collecting payments for a small currency amount often isn’t worth the collection effort. Therefore, many businesses are moving toward mandating specific payment types for purchases that fall under a certain payment amount. Payment Threshold functionality allows you to enable only certain payment types in your specialty stores, if the user places an order whose amount is under the threshold amount.

Anonymous users who visit your web stores are then automatically logged in with the guest user name. If a guest user makes any changes, such as modifying the preferred language or currency, or adding items to the shopping cart, the changes are saved in the cookie so that anonymous users cannot see each other's changes.

You must set up the guest user account before anonymous customers can view your web stores’ home pages. If you do not set up the guest user account, these customers will be unable to view or register in your web stores, and the system administrator will have to create a user name for each customer before the customer can access the stores.

Introduction to Banking and Financial Markets

A commercial bank borrows money from the public, crediting them with a deposit. The deposit is a liability of the bank. It is the money owed to depositors. In turn the bank lends oney to firms, households, or governments wishing to borrow. Commercial banks are financial intermediaries with a government license to make loans and issue deposits, including deposits against which checks can be written. Major important banks in most countries are included in the clearing system in which debts between banks are settled by adding up all the transactions in a given period and paying only the net amounts needed to balance inter-bank accounts. The balance sheet of a bank includes assets and liabilities. We begin by discussing the asset side of the balance sheet.

Cash assets are notes and coins kept in their vaults and deposited with the Central Bank. The balance sheet also shows money lent out or used to purchase short-term interest-earning assets such as loans and bills. Bills are financial assets to be repurchased by the original borrower within a year or less. Loans refer to lending to households and firms and are to be repaid by a certain date. Loans appear to be the major share of bank lending. Securities show bank purchases of interest-bearing long-term financial assets. These can be government bonds or industrial shares. Since these assets are traded daily on the Stock Exchange, these securities seem to be easy to cash whenever the bank wishes, though their price fluctuates from day to day. We now examine the liability side of the balance sheet which includes, mainly, deposits.
