Практикум містить серію вправ, спрямованих на закріплення лексичного та граматичного матеріалу курсу, розвиток та вдосконалення граматичних умінь та навичок студентів.

ВСТУП
Метою курсу “Англійська мова професійного спрямування” є формування, закріплення та вдосконалення вмінь та навичок практичного володіння англійською мовою. За підсумками вивчення курсу студенти повинні знати лексику розмовних тем, які вивчаються протягом року та граматичний матеріал в обсязі, передбаченому програмою курсу. Граматичні навички, які формуються протягом 1 курсу спрямовані на виробку автоматизованого розуміння значення основних граматичних явищ та використання їх на практиці.
Практикум до самостійної роботи має на меті вирішити такі завдання:
1) допомогти студентам закріпити новий лексичний та граматичний матеріал; 2) забезпечити тренування основних граматичних явищ у найтиповіших контекстах їхнього використання;
3) сформувати у студентів системне уявлення про роль та місце певних граматичних явищ при передачі мовної інформації;
4) забезпечити необхідну для студентів першого курсу повторюваність шляхом включення граматичних явищ, які вивчаються, до все більш широких функціональних структур.
Практикум містить серію вправ для самостійної роботи, які допоможуть студентам закріпити новий лексичний та граматичний матеріал, а саме: вправи, які мають аналітичний характер і забезпечують чітке розуміння граматичного явища; тренувальні вправи для закріплення вивчених правил, конструкцій; вправи, метою яких є тренування граматичного явища, яке вивчається, у найтиповіших контекстах його використання, а також різноманітні вправи творчого характеру.
Таким чином, граматичний матеріал практикуму охоплює всі основні явища англійської граматики, які є необхідними для активного опанування англійською мовою та створюють певну базу для подальшого розширення лексичного запасу і вдосконалення граматичних навичок студентів, які формуються протягом першого курсу при одночасному закріплені основних одиниць лексичного мінімуму, який забезпечує комунікацію в межах розмовних тем, пропонованих базовим підручником.
