MARK TWAIN

In many of his stories and pamphlets which did not appear during his lifetime M. Twain stressed the topic of opposition to imperialism and unjust wars.

In his novel “The Mysterious Stranger” the author described with sadness and horror how unjust wars were prepared . Twain said that they were prepared like that: handful (маленькая кучка)of shouting men demand war, average protest. “We do not want this unjust and dishonest war, “people say. But initiators double their efforts and average people are often fooled. They begin to see sense in false reasons.

That is what M. Twain wrote on the eve of the 20th century and today these words have to make the author’s countrymen and other people think more, especially those people who take words of handful of shouting men on trust.

M. Twain knew life better, loved people devotedly and hated racist persecution of Negroes.

M. Twain’s books have been published in 25 languages of Russian people. This proves the fact that Russian people will always welcome with open hearts cultural and humanist gifts of other countries, but will never permit military incursion (вторжение) of any kind into their country.
