  1. Speak about the advantages of choosing a package holiday.

A package holiday includes at least two of the following as a pre-arranged combination: • transport • accommodation • other significant tourist services (such as reps or excursions paid at time of booking holiday). It is sold at an inclusive price and covers a period of more than 24 hours (or includes overnight accommodation). Tour operators are also responsible for making sure the whole holiday is supplied as promised - even if part of the package is supplied by another party, such as an airline. This means, for example, if there is a problem with the hotel or flights including if the airline you are flying with goes bust, you should have a claim against the tour operator. When buying a holiday you may be offered travel insurance and it is up to you to consider this, as you may have annual travel insurance or wish to purchase it elsewhere or decide you don't want it. Travel agents and tour operators must not charge you a different price or require additional payment if you don’t buy holiday insurance from them. Nowadays travel agencies flood the market with their services. The most popular are package holidays, which are willingly chosen by families, newly wed couples and pensioners. In spite of having multitude advantages package holidays have some bad sides. First of all, you will know with a reasonable degree of certainty what the total cost of the holiday will be. Your flights, accommodation, meals and entertainments are included in the price. Another thing is that many packages offer facilities such as swimming pools, restaurants, bars, children clubs and activities such as cycling or tennis, so you will not get bored during your trip. What is more there are now a wide number of tour operators offering details to almost every corner of the world. You can spend your holidays on Sri Lanka, Caribbean, Maldives or Egypt.

  1. Why do people travel? Share your ideas.

People travel from many different reasons. In the tourism industry we divide the reasons for travel into three main categories: leisure tourism, business tourism, and visiting friends and relatives. Leisure tourism covers any activity we undertake in our free time and which produces pleasure. This include health tourism, sports tourism, educational travel, cultural and historical travel, travel for religious reasons, and so on. Business tourism covers a wide range of activities: exhibitions and fairs, conferences, business meetings, and incentive travel. People traveling on business need to relax, and they may take advantage of a business trip to visit a local tourist attraction. However, business travel is different from leisure tourism and VER in that the main reason for traveling is work, not pleasure. Travel in order to visit friends or family relatives is also regarded as part of the tourism industry. This could be for a special family party, such as a wedding or birthdays, or a regular trip made every year.
