years ago your company MAXIFOOD created a small operation called
MINIFOOD,
to produce fast food.
They got off to a flying
start and broke into new markets. It was a period of growth and
expansion. There were bright prospects.
However
in 2001 sales suffered a downturn and two years later things turned
pretty
bad. Now bankruptcy lies ahead.
The Chief Executive appoints
YOU a new head of the MINIFOOD and asks you to work out a business
plan to effect a recovery.
PRESENT
YOUR BUSINESS PLAN TO SHAREHOLDERS. WHAT
will you begin with? SWOT analysis? Something else?
SPEAK
in terms of the product, price, place, promotion, competitors,
your customers'
profile. ARE
YOU going to diversify? To build a brand? To become
competitor-oriented?
Anything else?
SOUND convincing. Build your
arguments carefully.
TASK 2
In
western countries, executives tend to switch jobs several times in
their careers, whereas
in Japan, with its policy of lifetime employment most executives
stay with one company throughout their working lives.
Prepare
an oral presentation on which system is better for the employer?
