It explains the good reason why it was "MegaFon" who became the general partner of the Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi. Here are just some of our recent achievements:

• At the end of 2011, the number of subscribers reached 62 million people. Meanwhile, ten years ago, in 2000, there were only 250,000 clients on the network of "North-West GSM» («MegaFon" was later built on its basis). During this period, the number of subscribers has increased more than two hundred times! As a result of this growth, in April 2010 "MegaFon" had the second highest number of subscribers for the first time among the "big three" mobile operators in Russia;

• In 2009, Internet traffic through the "MegaFon" network reached 5,825,457,482 Mb and in the first quarter of 2010 we already exceeded 6173449597 Mb. For purposes of comparison, it is similar to the amount of information contained in more than nine billion books! The share of "MegaFon" subscribers reached 39% of all Internet traffic generated by Russian users;

• In 2009, "MegaFon" subscribers’ voice traffic was 151,944,601 thousand minutes, and already 42,046,959 thousand minutes in the first quarter of 2010. If you add up those minutes, you get almost 80 years!;

• In 2009, 964 thousand 519-branded 3G-modems operating in the "MegaFon" network were sold. In only the first seven months of 2010, sales amounted to 1.225 million 222-modems;

• We have entered into roaming agreements with GSM-479 operators from 209 countries. "MegaFon" subscribers will not be left without a connection, even in Honduras or in Togo;

• In the first quarter of 2010, the "MegaFon" network had 7,200 base stations that support 3G. The total number of 2G/3G base stations is 16,000. 3G base stations are located in all regions of the Russian Federation. Сurrently, it is the largest third-generation network in the country;

• We provide services of third generation (3G) to more than six hundred of the 1,099 Russian cities: it is 54.5% of all the major populated locations in the country;

• The length of "MegaFon" fiber-optic communication lines (FOCL) is 43.47 thousand kilometers: it is almost three thousand kilometers longer than the Earth's equator;

• The number of employees exceeds 30,000 people;

• In 2009, there were 1,470 "MegaFon" branded stores; by the end of 2010 their number amounted to 2,500, and by December 31, 2011, their number increased to 3,000.
