Conclusion
In
sum, this project was describing two methods of finding roots for
polynomial and non-polynomial function. The first method is Iterative
and second is Newton-Raphson. The Iterative method works for
polynomial function, while for non-polynomial sometimes does not. The
Newton-Raphson method works for both kinds of functions.
Newton-Raphson
method have advantage for polynomial function, because it is the
fastest way to find the root of function. Disadvantage in this method
only one, it is using the first derivative of the function (which is
tangent to the curve). If the initial value will be very close to the
turning point of the function, the derivative of the function will be
directed to 0. Hence that, the number of
will be directed to infinity, therefore the different between
and
will be negative number.
Iterative
method has a disadvantage in the sense that requires a lot of time on
calculations. Also, if the rearrangement (transformed) function will
be wrong, the result could be mathematical error.
In
conclusion, there are many reason of using each method, but in
general terms, Newton-Raphson is fastest method give answer more
clearly.
