1/Family

1) Your parents are likely objecting because they fear for you. They are probably worried about how the world will react to your relationship. Being in an unconventional relationship can be difficult. The world can be a cruel place. Your parents are probably worried about seeing you struggle. Their reaction is wrong but it is based on their love for you and their desire to see you get the best out of life.

Your parents only want to see you happy. They don’t want to see you struggling or making decisions that will complicate your life. Understand that they have your best interests at heart and keep the lines of communication open. Be honest with them about how you feel. They may never like your partner but they can come to accept your relationship.

2) They are like a part of me and I can't live without them. People who you share blood and chromosomes are relatives ... sometimes they are family, sometimes they are not. Then there are those people who you love and care for who will always be there and you always be there for. Sometimes they are blood related sometimes they are not. I am lucky enough to have two families my close friends who support me and love me and my blood family who do the same thing.

3) Our time is not the easiest even for adults, but for teenagers who are to find own place in the society, is very difficult, that`s why parents must help their children solve youth problems and give a good and positive example for them showing how it is important to treat other people with respect. I think that all these can really help construct good relationship between parents and children.

But in our modern life there is often a lack of communication between parents and their children. Lack of the love and attention to children can make them unhappy. Love for their children is within every parent, which is frequently revealed through the concern they show. But superfluous control can not in the best way influence on child. Often children at school or in the street begin mock at this child calling him non-independent. In result of this pressure child lose his temper and starts be rude, closed. I think parents should not all the time control their children. Sometimes they have to allow freedom.

As for me, I get on very well with my parents. Whenever I have any problems, I know they are always there to listen and give advice. They have taught me a lot. They have got a lot of experience and they have always happy to share their knowledge with me.

4) Have families changed in your country or are they the same as they were a century ago? What about other countries?

Russian families have changed greatly in this century. In the early century a typical family included a mother, a mother, five or more children with their families, and even most of in-laws. Now the majority of Russian families are small. May be that's why the population of this country has stopped growing. A typical post-Soviet family has parents (a mother and a father) and two children. Grandparents come to visit, but do not usually live with their children. Most people get married between the ages of 20 and 23 but many marriages end in divorce, so there are a large number of "single parent family", one mother or father looking after their children alone. In other countries family changed too. Time changes - families change.

5) What are the advantages and problems of working with other members of your family? Would you ever do it? Why/why not?

Every family has family problems but, there are certain measures you can take for recovery. Whenever you have a group of people who spend hours with each other there are going to be problems.

I think that stopping the problem before it erupts is one of the best ways to deal with family problems. Family meetings can accomplish this goal. Family meetings provide a safe environment for each member to share their views on various issues. These meetings should be information sessions, not personal attacks or gripe sessions.

In our family mutual understanding and problems with each other don't arise, therefore them not to have to solve.

6) Do you think that the parents of talented children push them to be successful? Do you know of the cases like this? What has happened to the children?

6/Sport

1. Sport is very important in our life. It helps people stay in good shape, keeps them fit, makes them healthy, more organized and better disciplined. The Greeks used to say: “A sound mind in a sound body”. People who go in for sports know from their own experience that this famous saying is true to fact. Millions of people all over the world are fond of sports and games. A great deal of them do professional sports and earn their living by this. They are professional sportsmen and their task is not only to prove they personally are the best in the world but also to prove that the country they represent is the best in a certain kind of sport. But of course the majority of people are just amateurs that go in for sports just for pleasure. They attend gyms or swimming pools once or twice a week, play football with their friend at the weekends or just go jogging in the morning. At the same time, a great number of people don’t go in for sports. Some of them realize that sport is useful but prefer watching sports competitions on TV to going in for sports themselves. Some people consider sport a sheer waste of time.

But still many people are drawn into sporting activities. There is a vast network of sporting clubs and societies and keep-fit centres everywhere, offering a great choice of sports. Normally all kinds of sports fall into winter and summer ones; as for games they can be either indoor or outdoor. The most popular winter sports are ice-hockey, skiing, skating, figure skating, ski-jumping. Summer provides excellent opportunities for swimming, rowing, cycling, track-and-field athletics and many others. Among outdoor games football enjoys the greatest popularity. It is the most popular kind of sports, played in all the countries of the world. Ice-hockey also attracts much attentions and is very popular. These two games, football and ice-hockey, are supposed to be the national pride almost in every country. In every town there are special sporting clubs where boys are trained to become good football and hockey players. Other popular games that are paid much attention to are volleyball, basketball, badminton and tennis.

2. People in Omsk like sport activities. Many keep-fit centers are established throughout the town, so every person can find the place, where he can do his favorite sports. Such centers can vary from little fitness studios and gym halls to large sport palaces. I like spending my leisure time skating on ice rink or just jogging across the alley in park.

3. As an amateur, I like several kinds of sport, including basketball, skiing, tennis and skating. The last one is my favorite sport activity. Skating helps me to stay fit, healthy, it trains my body and gives me a lot of positive emotions. There are many ice rinks in our city where I can enjoy skating.

4. The most popular sport activities in our country are football (soccer), volleyball, ice-hockey, skiing and various styles of wrestling. In recent years, there are a lot of stadiums, athletic clubs and ice hockey rinks being constructed, that stimulates young generation to go in for sport. Abroad, in Europe, they like football, golf and tennis. American national sport games are baseball, basketball and rugby, called football by them. Every sport competition or contest is very interesting not only to participate in, but also to watch and it attracts a great deal of spectators.

5. Doing regular physical exercises plays a key role in staying fit and healthy. Many people, performing regular exercises, feel good, healthy and cheerful. Such an activity helps to remain accurate and self-disciplined. Simple exercises are very well as a minimal measure for recreating and recovering for ill or weak people. Nevertheless, if someone aims to have an athletic body, being strong, fast and deft, it will take much more time, means and efforts to reach the goal.

6. The most popular sport in Omsk is ice hockey. The most supported team is “Avangard Omsk”. The team`s plays, that are hold in domestic ice hockey stadium, “Arena Omsk” collect many fans every time. As for me, even I am not so keen on ice hockey, I like to go to “Arena Omsk” occasionally and to cheer my favorite team. Also plays are shown on local TV channels and transmitted by radio and most of people who missed watching the game itself, turn to their TV or radio and follow the course of the play with interest.

7. Sport is a way to health and a longer life. People who go in for sports make a very considerable contribution to their health, as it gives them strength, immunity to diseases and keeps them fit. Therefore, sport is a key to a longer life. Moreover, going in for sport makes us cheerful, active and strong-willed, helping to make our life more successful. On the other hand, one should not concern on sport too much. There were many cases when overtraining led to stunted growth, skeletal injuries and eating disorders, no one of such consequences could promote healthy and long life.

8. Violence in sport is a crime

Sport is a competition and a big sport is a big show. In order to collect more audience, sport contest organizers may promote various acts of violence in their shows, like fights or too tough methods of playing. It attracts many fans but such a performance became far from sport itself. Today violence in sport is undesirable and punishable activity, particularly in such exciting kinds of sport like boxing or eastern martial arts, and the rules, that prevent forbidden actions, are followed strictly. Those viewers, who find official sport contests boring, can go watch the production wrestling, which is not a sport competition, but a great show. In addition, sports like rugby and ice hockey contain many rough playing styles that only increase their popularity.

9. Spectators particularly enjoy watching international matches and contests; and events such as the Olympic Games or the Football World Cup attract more and more spectators as time goes by. The most popular spectator sport is football. Football is played on a Saturday afternoon in most British towns and the fans, or supporters, of a particular team will travel from one end of the country to the other to see their team play. The British are known as terrific football fans. If their famous team loses the game it is a national disaster. There are four divisions of the football league. Not surprisingly the best teams are in the first division. But the best supporters are often in the fourth division. Conflicts between the police and tough football fans became usual.

10. For many people sport is a serious and expensive business involving hours if daily training. Some people start training at a very early age, which is reflected in the increasing number of world champions in their teens. Sport has become too connected to big business. Sponsorship, advertising and appearance money for top sports people have all led to a situation where it sometimes seems that the athlete comes second to the accountant. Top sports people view their sport as a way of making as much money as possible in as short a time as possible. As a result of this desire, some participants are prepared to take drugs to help their performances – and therefore help their bank balance. On the other hand, without these potential record-breaking performances, sport would not be as attractive to watch on TV. Thus, sport at an amateur level should be for enjoyment and fitness, and should provide an outlet for surplus energy. At the same time, we have to say that professional sport has lost these aims and is now being used by some purely as a way of making money.
