KYIV

We live in Ukraine. The capital of Ukraine is Kyiv. It is a big city. More than 3 million people live there. Kyiv is on Dnipro, the main Ukrainian river. Khreshatyk is the main street in Kyiv. This street is long and broad. When people come to our capital they like to walk in Khreshatyk. On Saturday and Sunday there is no traffic in this street. That’s why people like to walk there on these days. When you go straight along Khreshatyk you can get into Majdan Nezalezhnosti – the main square in Kyiv.

In Kyiv you can see many high buildings. There are many cars, buses, trolleybuses, trams in the city. There are also three metro lines in it. When you go on the bridges over the Dnipro you can admire the beauty of this river.

In spring and summer the streets in Kyiv are very nice because there are a lot of green trees there, especially in May when the chestnut trees are in blossom.

There are many places of interest in Kyiv. They are the Golden Gate, St Sophia Cathedral, Kyiv-Pechers’k Lavra, the monument to Bohdan Khmelnytsky and many others.

NOVOHRAD- VOLYNS’KYI

As you know, I live in Novohrad-Volyns’kyi. It is my native town. It is not very big but very nice. 58 thousand people live in Novohrad-Volyns’kyi. The history of our town is long, interesting, rich.

First our town was known as Zvyahel’. First Zvyahel’ was mentioned in the Ipatier’s cronical in 1257. In 1796 Zvyahel’ was renamed to N-V. Lesya Ukrainka a great Ukrainian poetress was born in our town. Now we have a museum with many interesting thinga about her life. You can see a monument to L. Ukrainka in the centre of our town. N-Vstands on the banks of the river Sluch. There are many cars, buses, shops, 9 schools, a colegium and gymnasia. There is also a cinema, and big park in the centre of our town. I like my town very much and I am proud of it.

MY ENGLISH LESSON

My name is …… I am a pupil of the fifth form. I learn many interesting subjects in school. I want to tell you about our English lesson (because English is my favourite subject). We have English 5 days a week. At these lessons we learn to make up dialogues, write, read and speak English.

Sometimes we write dictations at the lessons. Many pupils of our class write English dictations very well. They get very good marks.

Our English Lesson is very interesting and we like it very much.

A REST DAY

Sunday is a rest-day. That’s why I don’t get up very early. In the morning I usually wash, dress, have my breakfast and help my mother about the house. I wash up, clean my room and go shopping. Then I begin to do my lessons. After dinner I usually go to the cinema with my friends. We like to see films about animals.

In the evening I help my mother to prepare supper. After supper I read interesting books and watch TV. Sometimes I play chess with my father. At 10 o’clock I go to bed.

MY LAST WORKING DAY

It was Friday yesterday. I got up at 7 o’clock in the morning, did my morning exercises, made my bed, washed, dressed and had my breakfast.

After breakfast I took my bag and went to school. I came to school at 8 o’clock in the morning. We had 6 lessons yesterday. After lessons I came back home and had my dinner. Then I went shopping.

I came home at half past four and began tom do my lessons. In the evening I helped my mother to prepare supper. I cleaned my room, watched TV. I had supper at 8o’clock. After supper I played the piano and read books. At 10 o’clock I go to bed.

MY FRIEND’S LAST REST DAY

It was Sunday yesterday. My friend did not got up very early in the morning. He washed, dressed, made his bed and had his breakfast. After breakfast he read comics and books. Then he began to do his lessons. He had dinner at 2 o’clock. After dinner he went for a walk and played with his friends. Then he had his supper. After supper he watched TV, played chess or read books. He went to bed at 9 o’clock.
