Scientists say that fast food is unhealthy but people go on eating it. What do you think about it?
Fast food is tasty and cheap, but it can lead to numerous health problems. First of all it leads to overweight and problems with weight. It happens because there are too many calories there. Secondly fast food is very unhealthy and can never give the nutrients and vitamins of a healthy homemade meal. Fast food is inexpensive because it's made with cheaper ingredients instead of nutritious foods. Your body won't get enough vitamins and it will be easy for you to fall ill. It's important to understand that though fast food looks tasty ifs dangerous for your health. Such food has a lot of additives. It's tasty because of artificial colours, flavourings and preservatives which can cause different diseases, for example, cancer.
13. Shopping
What do you know about the history of money?
Do you like shopping? Why (not)?
What questions will you ask a shop assistant to help you to choose a purchase?
What can you advise a person who wants to buy many things but has little time?
Parents usually give pocket money to their children. But some people think they shouldn’t do it as teenagers don’t work. What do you think about it?
What do you know about the history of money?
Long time ago there was no money. People bartered things they had for things they needed. For example, a farmer who had cattle wanted to have salt, so cattle became a form of money. Throughout their history people have used different things as money: knives and rice in China, cattle in Babylonia, tobacco in America, whales’ teeth and shells on the Pacific islands.
The first coins were invented in China. They were made from a mixture of gold and silver. But they were heavy and difficult to carry. So paper money was invented. Now people use plastic credit cards. With your credit card you can take money from the cash-machine any time you need it.
Do you like shopping? Why (not)?
I like shopping. I think it’s very interesting to buy new clothes. In my opinion, shopping is the most enjoyable thing in the world. I’m really happy when I go shopping. I like very much to walk around different shops. I can choose different things then.
What questions will you ask a shop assistant to help you to choose a purchase?
Could you show me these shoes, please?
Have you got it another colour?
Have you got it in a smaller size?
Can you change this T-shirt, please?
Can I try it on?
What can you advise a person who wants to buy many things but has little time?
If you have little time but want to buy many things I’d advise you to visit a big department store or a supermarket. They sell various goods under one roof, and this is very convenient. A department store is composed of many departments: shoes, ready-made clothes, fabrics, sports goods, toys, glasses, electric appliances, cosmetics, etc. You can buy or try on everything you like.
Parents usually give pocket money to their children. But some people think they shouldn’t do it as teenagers don’t work. What do you think about it?
I think teenagers shouldn’t get a lot of pocket money. Parents are responsible for their children, they buy everything for them and children should understand it. They should get enough pocket money but not too much. A lot of pocket money doesn’t make teenagers responsible. They should understand that money isn’t everything and they should learn how to budget. They can’t do it if they have too much money.

What are your hobbies?
A hobby is a favourite pastime of a person. Hobbies differ like tastes. If you have chosen a hobby according to your character and taste you are lucky because your life becomes more interesting.
My hobby is dancing. I attend dancing. We have dancing classes five times a week. We take part in different dancing competitions, and often we win.
Of course I like to spend my free time with my friends. We talk about all sorts of things. We discuss films, TV programmes, computer games. In fine weather we like to be in the open air. We have a good time together.
