5.3 Health and safety during the work

There are a number of simple rules that will allow you to protect yourself and your computer from damage.

1. The system unit must be installed in a location where it will not be subjected to shock and vibration, as well as intensive dusting.

2. Monitor must be placed at eye level so that the screen is not in direct sunlight position, and if you are using a CRT monitor, at the back of the monitor people shouldn’t work.

The level is defined in this way: sitting at the computer and looking horizontally, you should see the top edge of the screen. The distance from your eyes to the screen should be between 50 and 70 cm.

The prohibition to work behind a CRT monitor, you should pay attention to the fact that the CRT monitor is based on a cathode-ray tube, which is when it works it creates an electromagnetic field (for LCD monitors this does not apply). From the side of the screen there is a good defense, and on the reverse side this protection is weaker. Being the human in electromagnetic field monitor can harm their health.

3. The keyboard must be set in a location convenient to work, so that it is not polluted. Fine particles may jammed keys, preventing them from working, the liquid inside the housing the keyboard, causing the failure of the chip. By the way, repair keyboard is more expensive than buying a new one. There are protected keyboard, but they are quite expensive.

4. The printer must have a stable base and enough space to print documents. You cannot install the printer on a system unit.

5. All work associated with switching cables connecting the computer device, you should do when your computer is off.

6. Before turning on the computer, make sure that all live parts are properly insulated and outlet is grounded.

7. It is not recommended to use the computer for more than 4 hours. After each hour it is recommended to arrange physical exercise to remove burden from eyes.

Total time spent at the monitor should not exceed 6 hours.

8. Glare factor for the general sources of artificial light at a constant work with computers should be no more than 20 in administrative and not more than 40 in public areas.

9. Should be limited the uneven distribution of brightness in the field of user’s view, the brightness ratio between the working surfaces must not exceed 3:1 - 5:1, and between the working surfaces and wall surfaces and equipment - 10:1.

10. Ripple light for workplaces with PC should not exceed 5%.

In this room work on a diploma project does not affect the ecology of the environment.

5.4 Health and safety during the emergency

The laboratory is located on the third floor of a ten-storey building. The fire extinguisher is located in the corridor near the laboratory door. Type of fire extinguisher is a powder extinguisher ОП-5. Responsible for fire safety on the third floor is Dairbekov A.A. In this room in a visible place are hung labels indicating the telephone of fire brigade, and are hung fire extinguisher stating the type and operating instructions. Firefighting equipment is located in an easily accessible place. There are two systems of fire warning in the laboratory.[6]

In the building are designed and posted in visible places evacuation plans (schemes) in case of fire, and also provided a system (installation) of fire warning. Fig. 5.2 shows a schematic layout of the evacuation of the third floor:

The room is equipped with automatic fire alarm (AFA) which delivers fire signal to the hardware node or terminal station working 24 hours, to duty personnel, designed to detect fire in the initial stage and alert the Fire Service, as well as signaling the inclusion of emergency ventilation systems, smoke, automatic fire extinguishing devices.
