Moscow University is one of the largest in the world. It is the scientific centre of the city. The University was founded by the great Russian scientist M. Lomonosov in 1755. At first there were only three faculties at the University-philosophy, medicine and law. There are 18 faculties there now. There are full-time, part-time and correspondence departments at the University. Moscow University trains highly qualified specialists both in natural sciences and humanities. Moscow University has research institutes, experimental stations, well-equipped laboratories, observatories, museums, a botanical garden. Students live in dormitories with all modern conveniences.

I am a first-year student of one of the Moscow Institutes. Our Institute trains artists and designers for various branches of industry and culture. There are four faculties at our Institute. At the Institute I study a lot of subjects such as history of arts, higher mathematics, chemistry and many others among which there is also a foreign language and physical training. After graduating from the Institute I’ll be able to work as a designer at a plant, a factory or a research Institute.

II. But some people prefer to stay at home. They are fond of reading and watching TV programmes. Those who like music listen to various concerts of modern and old music, new and old songs over the radio and see dances on TV. Those who are fond of sports watch football, hockey or tennis matches. Some like to watch video-films with their friends.
