On the 6th of May 2020 at 11:30 hrs the duty officer of the UNMIK police station number 5 received an anonymous phone call that a bomb would be placed on the
railroad between the 6th and 7th of May. The caller did not reveal his identity and put
the receiver back on the phone. The duty officer immediately brought this information to the knowledge of the UNMIK Station Commander.
The Station Commander decided to hold a meeting with his deputy and staff
leaders. The meeting started on the 6th of May at 12:45 hrs. The members of the
meeting agreed, that the railroad stretches in the area of their responsibility up to
85 kilometers with 4 villages, 5 train stations, and 9 bridges. 3 Bridges were over motorway and 6 over rivers. The station commander had 55 police officers at the police
station and knew that this strength was not enough to provide security to the rail road,
to the train, passengers and constructions on this railroad. At 14:00 hrs the Station
Commander called Regional commander and informed him about his concerns. The
Regional Commander declared an emergency situation in the region from 15:00 hrs
on 6th of May until 09:00 hrs on the 8th of May 2020. On the 6th, 7th and morning
8th of May the police were extremely busy checking the railroad, railway stations and

bridges. On the 8th of May 2003 at 09:00 hrs when all police units reported, that no
bomb threat was observed the emergency situation was called off.
On the 10th of May at 02:35 hrs a man rushed into the police station number 5.
He appeared to be a 47 year old, grey haired, slim build taxi driver, license plates
number 359 KS 476 and stated, that at 02:00 he saw, that the bridge over motorway
at grid reference 896-496 was blown up. The duty officer called the railway station to
stop the passenger train from going towards the bridge. But it was too late and the
train was already on its way. The duty officer immediately sent a police car with police patrol to stop the train. There was one railroad crossing 5 km before the bridge at
grid 873-485. The police patrol was on time and managed to stop the train at
03:10 hrs. Neither passengers, nor engineers of the train were injured.
The UNMIK Station Commander with two police patrol teams, forensic group
and the bomb-clearing unit arrived to the blown bridge at 03:45 hrs. The bombclearing unit found large blood spots on the bridge and stated, that the criminals must
have been severely injured by the explosion. The police patrols made a search around
the area of the bridge and found two dead mail bodies lying 15 meters from the
bridge in the bushes. They were dressed in camouflage, both about 30‒35 years old,
175‒180 cm tall, with short black hair. No documents were found. The bodies were
taken to the morgue for postmortem examination. The fingerprints made by the forensic helped to identify two criminals, which were under the federal search since
1999. The case is under investigation.

Regional Commander: Good morning. Thank you for coming. I asked you to
come to put details of this incident together. Please, tell me what happened on the
6th of May in the morning.

from crossing the bridge after the explosion?
Station commander: The duty officer called the railway station to stop the
passenger train from going towards the bridge. But it was too late and the train was
already on its way. Then he sent a police car with police patrol to stop the train.
Regional Commander: What time and where did the police stop the train?
Station Commander: There was one railroad crossing 5 km before the bridge at

On Friday the 9th of May 2003, at 20:00 hrs, an incident was reported to Police
Station # 5 of a person being severely beaten. The caller witness stated that a beating
incident had just occurred at the food store «Best Price», which was located at Main
Street 25, grid reference 193-168. Immediately, a police patrol was dispatched to the
scene of the incident. On arrival at the scene of the incident at 20:15 hours the officers observed, that the 42-year-old male food storeowner, had been very badly beaten
on his face. Due to the very serious condition of the store owner's injuries the officers
decided to immediately transport the victim by ambulance to the local hospital for
treatment.
The 37-year-old female witness to the incident said she and the storeowner had
been friends for the last 3 years. At 19:50 hrs, while she was six meters away from
the incident hiding behind a bread display, she observed the owner of the store and
the offender, a male that was about thirty years of age, 175 cm tall, very heavy build,
with long black hair and beard, brown leather coat, white shirt and black pants arguing loudly. The witness advised that she overheard the offender say to the storeowner
that he was late in paying the 900 euros which were due to be paid at the beginning of
each month, and that if the money was not paid he would destroy the store by fire.
The witness advised that the storeowner said to the offender that he refused to pay
any more extortion money to him. The witness then stated that she observed the offender remove a small black club from his coat pocket with his right hand and strike
the store owner five times in the face with the club while holding him by the neck
with his left hand, and then put the club back in his coat pocket.
Further interview of the witness revealed that she was employed as a teacher at
the local school, and resident at Airport Street 49, grid reference 836-742. The witness stated that she had never seen the offender in the store before the incident happened. The witness further stated to the officers that the offender, after having beaten
the storeowner, drove away at a very high speed from the store North on Main Street,
in a large black, four door vehicle license #639 KS 385. The witness further advised
that as the offender was leaving the store she noticed the offender to have blood
stains on his white shirt and on his brown leather coat.
The Officers proceeded to the local hospital to interview the victim of the beating to obtain further information about the identity of the offender. Upon arrival at
the local hospital the Officers were advised by the attending doctor that the victim
was in a coma condition and unable to speak with them. The doctor told the Officers
that he would telephone them at Police Station # 5, as soon as the victim became con-

scious, and able to have a conversation. The investigation into the incident of the extortion and beating will be continuing. The following conversation is the dialogue between the police officer and the witness of the incident.
Police officer: Good morning. Thank you for coming to station # 5 to talk to me.
Witness: You are welcome. I want the offender arrested for beating the store-
owner.
Police officer: Could you please tell me where you reside.
Witness: I reside at Airport Street # 49, grid reference 836-742.
