Modern life is impossible without travelling.

Many people throughout the world like to spend their holidays differently. But the majority of them think that travelling is the best way to have rest and to get fun during their holidays. Some people hate travelling. They think that it takes too much money, time and effort.

So why do people travel? They travel to see other countries and continents, modern cities and ancient towns. They go on holidays to en-

joy picturesque views or just for a change of scene. It is learning experience because while travelling they get to know a lot about the places they visit, meet new people and learn a lot about different cultures and traditions. They say that it is always curious to get into something unknown, mysterious.

Travelling by air is more comfortable and of course quicker than any other way. People can fly from Europe to Asia in few hours.

Travelling also helps people to get away from their daily routine and have a good time while being on holidays.

Even such things as packing up the luggage, booking tickets for a plane or a train, spending much time in coaches make every trip unforgetful. Travellers are so excited and happy that they think about nothing else but a trip.

Travelling always means going from one place to another and people usually use different means of transport. They can travel by air, by train, by sea, by car, etc. So tastes differ. Comfortable seats are reserved, luggage is looked after, high service from the staff is offered. There is nothing to worry about. Isn’t it thrilling to try up in the sky above white clouds, when the towns, forests and fields are so small down here!

On the one hand there’re no problems at all, but on the other hand

flying has some disadvantages: perhaps the first is that people fly directly to any destination and have no feeling of travelling from one place to another. Some travellers suffer from tiredness or seasickness. So they save time travelling by plane, but waste it for recovering. True, it is more expensive than railway travel.

So some people prefer travelling by train. Trains are usually on time as they do not depend on weather. Every passenger can get into a carriage and watch fascinating scenes, having speed, comfort and pleasure combined.

There are a lot of people for whom trips by sea offer a great variety of comfort. One can play games, swim, and enjoy good food. But such kind of travelling is wonderful when sea is calm.

In fact, thousands of people think that there is nothing better than travel by car. They can go as slowly or as fast as they want, stop when and where they choose. But driving has some disadvantages too. For example, traffic jams or detours are among them. Unfortunately, travelling

is not always safe nowadays. We can hear a lot about air crashes,

Actually thousands of people find travelling as a great opportunity to see with their own eyes the places and things they have heard a lot. Today travel agencies offer a wide range of tours for everybody’s likes. It is not by chance people say: «A picture is worth a thousand words».
