1. Прочитайте и письменно переведите текст «TELEX»

The telex is a quick and efficient method of communication between subscribers in many parts of the world. It is as fast as the telephone service d as accurate as a typewriter, especially when there are numbers in the message. A printed copy of the telex message is produced at both the sending and receiving ends. A major advantage of the telex is that a sender may transmit a message 24 hours a day, even if the machine is left unattended.

There is a special telex directory for subscribers. A telex operator sends a message by dialing the receiver's telex number. The receiver's answerback code should then appear on the operator's teleprinter. This code is used for identification purposes. If the wrong answerback code is obtained, the operator should clear the machine, check the number, and try again. If the correct answerback code is received, the operator's own code and the message should then be sent. The answerback code is repeated at the end, and the operator waits for me receiver's code to see that the message has been received.

When the operator presses the DIAL button a lamp comes on; it goes out when-the operator presses the TRANSMIT button. An incoming call will also light the lamp, and the alarm will sound if it is switched on. The RESET button will silence it.

If an incoming call is cut off, the receiver should wait for the correspondent to call again. The receiver should stop the caller by typing PPP, the INTERRUPT signal, if the message is mutilated, There are various service codes, such as OCC for engaged, ABS for absent. The abbreviation COL stands for collation, when you repeat important words and numbers.
