So this is Oxford. Oxford’s main railway station is some half __ mile to __ west of the area in which are clustered most of __ colleges: Queen’s College and University College, Magdalene College and quite __ number of others.
All these together make up __ University of Oxford.
__ central University, in general, arranges lectures for __ whole body of __ students in __ particular subject and holds examinations and grants degrees; __ individual college provides for __ residence and tutorials. Мой визит в Кембридж не был обычным. Он чем-то похож на Лондон: такой же старый, очаровательный и многонациональный. Кембридж многонационален потому, что сюда поступают люди со всего мира. Общее количество студентов – 11000 человек. Кембридж состоит из нескольких жилых колледжей, основанных в разное время. В главном корпусе университета проводятся лекции и экзамены, присуждаются ученые степени. Вступительные экзамены очень строги, кроме индивидуального собеседования абитуриенты должны сдать письменный экзамен.
Проходя через главные ворота, обратите внимание на древние стены колледжей, которые очень живописны. Общая площадь колледжей около 70 квадратных ярдов. Взглянув на часовни, библиотеки, столовые, получаешь представление о старой английской архитектуре.
В Кембридже 23 колледжа, включая 5 для женщин-студенток, которые были поострены только в конце XIXвека. Студентки не очень активны в общественной жизни университета, но они работают намного усерднее, чем студенты-мужчины и редко пропускают занятия.
Самое лучшее время для визита в Кембридж – весна, когда начинают цвести деревья и можно увидеть неповторимое буйство красок. Замечательное зрелище, стоит того, чтобы его увидели!
