Цель данных указаний - помочь студентам овладеть навыками аудирования.

В состав указаний входит комплекс дотекстовых, текстовых и послетекстовых заданий для тренировки навыка аудирования. Все упражнения градуированы по сложности от уровня «Elementary» до уровня «Intermediate».

Рекомендуются для студентов в качестве приложения к учебному курсу по английскому языку.

UNIT I

ALL ABOUT YOU

Ex. 1 Think of 5 questions you may ask somebody you meet in the following situations:

-two old friends chatting about their news;

-a person answering questions for an application form;

-students on an English course getting to know each other;

-a businesswoman meeting a colleague from abroad for the first time.

Ex. 2 Listen to ten questions you might hear in these situations. Give your answers to them (Recording 1).

Ex. 3 Read the text about Rob, a student in England. Listen to the text and find the differences between what he writes and says (Recording 2).

Hello! My name is Rob. I come from Dundee, a town on the east coast of England, but I'm a student at Durham University, in the north of England. I'm studying Russian and French, and I can speak the languages quite well, so I can speak three languages. I'm enjoying the course a lot, but it's very hard work!

I live in Durham Castle, because the Castle is part of the University, with about fifty other students. The course started two months ago, and I'm in my first year. After the course I'm going to work in France, but I don't know where yet.
